How to set up a Historical League ?'s
hopefully this information (some of which I remembered from other threads) will assist people looking to set up Historic American base ball leagues so that they do not look like Modern American Baseball
Not claiming this is perfect or all inclusive, its why I am starting a thread about it. And appologies if my search did not uncover an older one with this information 1. Copy all original files elsewhere so that you can go back to OOTP standard whenever you want. Also remember reinstalling will recover the original files as well 2. Download Notepad ++ This will be needed to edit the world_default XML file. DONT STOP HERE this is really simple and almost painless. Notepad++ is free Notepad++ v6.6.2 - Current Version 3. BACK UP YOUR ORIGINAL. yes the files are recoverable, but safe editing is smart editing. 4. Open Notepad++ and open world_default.XML file. For me its located in D:/OOT Baseball/OOTP Baseball15/data/database. It will be wherever you choose when you installed. 5. now do a "control F" to open the find popup. type united and hit 'find next' button until "The UNITED States' is found. 6. EXCELLENT. this step is critical. replace the 1 with a 0 where it says "use_hardcoded_ml_player_origins' this allows the other things about The United States to actually work with your game. 7. I do not know what "this_is_the_usa" = 1 means so I left it at 1. If anyone knows this please respond. 8. This next part is optional but it is simple and will allow you full manipulation of the ethnicities file going forward. Go dow to line 83964 (dont worry it should be right there in front of you). see where Ethnicity lid=38 pct=2 is? copy that line then paste it. Now edit your new line 83965 to lid=39 pct=100. this adds US Historic Lid to USA and changes the pct to 100. You can put these numbers wherever you desire cause that is the point of this procedure. I choose 100 cause its simple. 9. This part is optional but I will describe what I did. I editied ALL the lid to pct=0 except for lid=39. I will show the results of this later. 10. click File and Save. Boom almost done 11. from OOTP 15 click the League Options wrench. now choose Database button. There will be a dropdown labeled Database Tools. Select "Re-import world database from XML file" thats it you have changed OOTP to where you can more easily manipulate the player creation of your universe Last edited by Kobeck; 05-15-2014 at 02:57 AM. |

using the above I will give before and after player creation ethnicities
using OOTP standard I got what about one would expect using the Player Creation Tool Black 31 Asian 0 Indian 2 White 50 Hispanic 17 Hispanic was double the 8 expected, but that seemed consistent in my tests. Dont pretend to know the reason After editing the world_default.XML I got the following using the Player Creation Tool using the original Ethnicities file Black 2 Asian 0 Indian 0 White 89 Hispanic 9 This is about spot on. If the Ethnicities file is examined Historic USA is stated as black 25 Asian 0 indian 0 White 875 Hispanic 100. So these percentages are pretty spot on. Using the Player Creation Tool and an edited & re-imported Ethnicities file that has Caucasion at 1000 in all Lid's I recieved the following results Black 0 Asian 0 Indian 0 White 100 Hispanic 0 exactly what one would expect. So now it is proven we can in fact control the ethnicities using the Player Creation Tool Last edited by Kobeck; 05-15-2014 at 12:00 AM. |

Good info and thanks for sharing it...
Just curious, doesn't Questdogs Names for OOTP15 accomplish something similar to this? I know he has an edited world_default along with ethnicities files in his mod... Last edited by txranger; 05-14-2014 at 09:22 PM. |

if the Lids are not changed in the world_default.XML then although you can create an all White 1871 MLB the players might still have tons of hispanic/foreign names.
Again someone feel free to correct me here if I am wrong. Wont be able to open OOTP or mess around with the files till saturday afternoon - if then Last edited by Kobeck; 05-14-2014 at 10:55 PM. |
