Women's Baseball?

Not to get all PC about it, but would it be possible to create a function for a Women's League?

You can do it and yeah it would be cool if Markus added it don;t ever expect it to happen. There is only like 3 of us that want it. Someone has a quickstart if the AGBL or whatever it was called from the '40's. i have tons of women facgens that would work if you have a league and this comes in handy.

I play in a co-ed softball league. The vast majority of the women batting have these sorts of batting stats:

Woman X:
GO 5-3
GO 6-3
FC 6-4

Woman Y:
K
GO 5-3
FC 5-4

Woman Z (leftie):
GO 3U
GO 3U
GO 3U

No, I don't want women in baseball. Or a woman's baseball league (unless they are genetically modified...)

Just grab women's facegen file and create the league yourself with a woman's first name file

Forget the sexism a couple of posts up. The problem is that gender is hardcoded in. To add women would be a major coding change.

There is this.

It's not quite what you want, but it is kinda cool.

If you take two softballs, one in each hand, and hold them palm-up at about eye-level then really think hard about what the OP requests I think that you will find that you agree with him.

Markus would have to code in crying, because there is no crying in baseball.

The issue here is the amount of work that would have to be done for a very small payout. In addition to adding in a women's first name file, and possibly women's facegen, you'd also have to modify the entire PbP file, all the scouting reports, and every single news story to use "she" or "her" instead of "he" or "him". That's a massive undertaking, all for the sake of a small portion of the fanbase who want to run a women's league.

It's not a bad idea, it's just highly unrealistic.

Some of these posts are about as ignorant as possible. It's not like some of you here could put up any better numbers than most women.

When I was in high school we played against a team that had a girl starting at second base. They beat us......

Well... in fact I started diverse mixed-ball leagues (on OOTP) based on many of the members of my local church.

Two words, Mo'nae Davis. Markus could implement this, which is as simple as 1) adding women's facegen (provided facegen has women models?) or if not 2) adding a check box for gender on player editing and 3) enabling him/her pronounces if someone is checked as female in-game.

The OOTP PR team could then write a release about how her run in the little league word series motivated them to create this functionality in the game, that it was about time that all baseball fans were able to enjoy a game where they can see themselves on the field or whatever.

It would seriously be a hit for a game that gets so much of its publicity from word of mouth. And like every feature, it could simple be a "active women players?" toggle so all of the purists could keep their leagues women free.

Even sans female "faces" you could simply do everything as it is now and have a cosmetic gender toggle. If we didn't change anything -- none of the PBP, not the names, not anything -- and left it as is and only allowed the game to keep creating males only and made it so the ONLY way you could have a woman player is to manually create one, that'd be as simple as a "MALE/FEMALE" toggle and that's it.

The other stuff could be added years down the road or never. But just the massive payoff of just saying IT IS NOW POSSIBLE TO CREATE WOMEN IN THE GAME. FIRST SPORTS SIM TO INCLUDE WOMEN would be huge. Seriously.

Baseball Mogul had women, but the implementation was glitched on imported games.

FM also includes women. You can create players and staff.

My girlfriend had told me before that she'd buy the game to if it had women. More specifically the pro fast pitch leagues.

I don't think it's a bad idea at all and I'd be all for it.

I could see it more a offical add-on though instead of in the base game. Honestly I think OOTP would greatly benifit if the devs developed an official add-on structure.
