1993 Expansion Issue
Orlando was one of finalists for expansion in 1993 that went to Miami. I am trying to play as the Orlando SunRays in place of the Marlins. So I started a game in 1992 and simmed until the Marlins showed up and then edited their team with the Team Name, colors, etc, but then after the 1993 season my team disappears and the Marlins reappear and the league said they're going to hold another expansion draft. Why is this? Is this because I have left historical expansion checked, so it tried to pull the Marlins back in? If so, do I just leave this unchecked and then manually add the Diamondbacks and Devil Rays in 1998? Or should I leave the historical team as the Marlins so the game thinks they're already there, just with a different name?

Really Tampa Bay was picked over Orlando but Rays have played some home games their and never have been mentioned for a team to move their.

Orlando was a finalist for both rounds of expansion in the 1990s. They were closer to being selected in 1993 since they had the backing of the Orlando Magic owner, Richard DeVos. In 1998 I don't think they were as seriously considered since Tampa already had a constructed stadium.

It's not an "issue", it can't be fixed. If you select to follow historical expansion, then the game will follow real historical expansion.
If you want to expand to Orlando, then you can't use the historical option. You need to do it manually. Last edited by Bluenoser; 02-18-2019 at 01:29 PM. |

I love OOTP but man does having to sim through the year before suck when trying to do an expansion team.
I'd love to see this easier in OOTP 20. |

Thank you. When I get home tonight, I'm going to see if I get the same issue if I keep the Historical Team ID as FLA, but then edit the name and colors. One other issue I saw is that the initial Rookie Draft for the expansion teams it puts them at the top of the draft, rather than at the bottom like they always have in every MLB expansion. That's at least easily editable in Commish mode.
