Can't Sign Offseason Free Agents?
I'm hooked after just a few days! I'm my first offseason, and I'm unable to sign any free agents though. I'm operating as the evil Yankees, and seem to have money in my projected budget, but keep getting this error message when I make an offer to anyone. Can anyone help?

It looks like you have a clue in the background there. You are living within your current budget (green, positive "Proj. Budget Room") but you have a negative cash balance (red, negative "Cash") which more than offsets the first amount. So, as the zeroes indicate, you have no money for Free Agents, either this year or next. You should go to your team's home page and click the Front Office tab to find out why. Look under "Finances" and "Salaries" in the Front Office.

Post a screenie of your financial page. We can probably help explain it to you.
From what I gather in your current screen shot, you lost a ton of money in prior years and are deep in the red. Usually, you get a budget but when you lose money, that money is also deducted from the budget. Thus, you have less to spend. This works in reverse if you are profitable. I usually have the one of the lowest payrolls in the league and end up highly profitable every year. That money is then added to my budget next year (I carry forward all earnings and losses) and that allows me to hire anyone I wish if I get the chance. |
