We are back in Jacksonville for the next 10 days and hopefully can climb out of the cellar during this home stand. First up is the 2nd place Louisville Colonels for a 3 game series over the weekend. They just won 3 of 5 games in Columbus and have played 9 games in the last 8 days, so hopefully we can catch some winded pitchers. We are 2-4 against them this season and lost a pair of games to them the last time they were here, May 14 and 15. They are 13th in the League in scoring with 3.75 runs per game (Jacksonville is 15th with 3.67). The Colonels are 1st in fewest runs allowed with 3.30 per game (The Jays are 9th with 4.21). Their run differential is +43 and ours is -52, 2nd worst in the League, though still twice as good as Providence (-110).

Louisville Colonels (53-43 .552 3 GB in 2nd place in the Southern Division) at
Jacksonville Jays (43-53 .448 13 GB in 8th (last) place in the Southern Division)

JAX: Cody Jacobus (29-L 1-1 4.83 ERA 31.2 IP, 35 H, 6 HR, 14 BB, 13 SO)

We scored 5 runs in 8 innings off Hinojosa back in April, bit that was one of his 2 wins. He is pitching on short rest today.

Jacobus' last outing was an inning in the American Association (AAA) All-Star Game 10 days ago. In his last start for the Jays, he gave up 4 runs and 9 hits to Orlando in 6 innings in a no decision. For Daytona Beach, he was 6-1 with a 2.12 ERA.

The trade deadline is today and we have gotten a lot of offers this past week, but not a single one even worth considering... Good! I balked when I saw that line that's dismal even for A-ball! How he got that ERA is beyond me.

We cannot afford to go 5 or 6 days with a 4 man Bullpen with our Starters being so dreary and I do not want to put RP Cody Shaw on the DL, but we need another arm up here. So we sent C Nick Witherspoon (27-R) back to Daytona Beach (A) and called up RP Adrian Myers (22-L), the #10 prospect. Batters are hitting .169 against him in A Ball and he is striking out 10.9 batters per 9 innings. Unfortunately, he is also walking 6.2...

Jacksonville Jays (48-59 .449 15 GB in 6th place in the Southern Division) at
New Orleans Pelicans (51-56 .477 12 GB in 4th place in the Southern Division)

JAX: Walt Urbanski (30-R 6-9 4.04 ERA 136 IP, 143 H, 5 HR, 50 BB, 56 SO) vs.
NO: Jason Emerson (25-R 10-8 3.03 ERA 157.1 IP, 157 H, 8 HR, 35 BB, 90 SO)

Urbanski has been shelled in his last two starts, allowing 12 runs (11 earned) in 8.1 IP with 18 H allowed. But he escaped each time with a no decision.

We have faced Emerson twice and hit him well both times, but we has a win and a no decision.

On our off day yesterday, we sent two players down to Daytona Beach (A): 3B Jamie Stelter (28-L) and CF Jamie Payne (30-R). We called up 3B Sam Dickson (31-R) and LF Alejandro Franco (28-R).
