OOTP 21 - Teams drafting only drafting one position

For my first draft...I noticed that the Mets were continuously taking catchers. They drafted 30+ catchers. Some teams drafted 35 starting pitchers.

Has this happened to anyone else? I restarted the game to my pre-draft save point and the same thing happened. I had my friend test a league using his game/PC and it is happening to him as well.

Can anyone look at their most recent draft logs?

Thank you.

Correction - First round is fine, but teams mostly taking one position from 2-35

Same happening here. Teams either taking all pitchers or all position players after the first round.

Is this for the rookie draft? What league setup are you using that you're seeing this?

Yes, this is for the rookie draft. Standard game with MLB and World cup selected. Aside from that, everything is default.

I'm the friend. Same thing happened to me. I didn't save my game nor screenshots but, off the top of my head, I remember 2 teams drafting solely catchers, 5 teams drafted solely SP, 3 teams didn't draft a single pitcher (SP or RP).

Standard game but MLB (and minors) world only. No World Cup.

Standard league MLB setup for me. It is the rookie draft. I made no adjustments from default except lowering the number of rounds to 30.

I tested this on a Historic League file. Start 1998 season. Simmed to and simulated draft (CPU controlling all teams). It wasn't as bad as the Standard League draft but still pretty bad. All teams solely drafted 2 positions (with a 3rd one sprinkled here and there). I attached draft images for 4 teams to show an example.

Just wanted to update this to say that this issue has not changed with today's patch, and teams are still drafting one position/ overdrafting pitchers.

Can you post screen shots as I am not seeing this level of position drafting in my leagues. I do see a mix of pitchers and position players, though several of the position players are same position.

I didn't know there was a patch until I saw the post earlier, then I saw your reply and decided to do a test as well.

Standard game. Simulate to and past draft. Here's the Dodgers, Marlins and As to look at as an example. That's 105 Starting Pitchers drafted between 3 teams.

I tried testing on standard game with different AI settings, historic games, international league games, fictional league. Seems to be an AI Drafting bug.

Something IS VERY WRONG with the draft. Not only were 21 of 30 players pitchers in my last draft, but look at the team who picked 1st. The Minnesota Twins drafted only 1 position player out of 35 rounds. The Chicago Cubs only picked 8 position players out of 35 rounds. Why are teams so fixated on pitchers in the draft in OOTP 21?!?!

Lukas, I am on the latest patch. I am attaching screenshots for you. You will see that in the latest draft, 20/29 players are pitchers. Teams begin drafting bizarre. The Orioles in this scenario only draft Catchers and Relief Pitchers after awhile. The last screenshots I am sending are the late rounds. From round 28 to 35 (default setting), every selection is a Relief Pitcher. This problem has completely stopped me from playing anymore games. Without a working draft, the save is doomed. I really hope that one of the developers is aware of what is going on and can fix it. I really want to get back to playing again soon.

I am on the latest patch. These are the outliers of the draft - brand new league created post patch as well. I followed the catchers mostly which is why I entered the amount each time. Some teams seems to be okay, but when you see 5 of the first 6 picks being one position...you know the rest of the draft isn't going to be pretty for them. Multiple teams not drafting any SPs. 158 total catchers drafted and 11 teams didn't draft 1 catcher.

Tigers - 15 catchers
Diamondbacks - 16 catchers
Braves - 3 catchers (22 SPs)
Orioles - 12 catchers
Red Sox - 0 catchers and balanced
White Sox - 10 catchers
Cubs - 4 catchers and balanced
Reds - 1 catcher and balanced
Indians - 0 catchers (17 SPs)
Rockies - 3 catchers (17 SPs)
Astros - 0 catchers (22 SPs)
Royals - 0 catchers or 3B, but otherwise okay. Not going to force each team to draft every position
Angels - 0 catchers or SPs which was surprising. Mostly infield guys
Dodgers - 0 catchers (22 SPs)
Marlins - 11 catchers (21 SPs)
Brewers - 1 catcher and balanced
Twins - 0 catchers, but otherwise balanced
Yankees - 1 catcher and balanced
Mets - 19 catchers
Athletics - 5 catchers (18 SPs)
Phillies - 0 catchers - Mostly 1B and 3B with OF/Pitching scattered in
Pirates - 2 catchers and balanced
Padres - 17 catchers and 0 SPs
Giants - 4 catchers - Mostly infield and 2 OFs
Mariners - 0 catchers (21 SPs)
Cardinals - 8 catchers (17 SPs)
Rays - 0 catchers otherwise balanced
Rangers - 5 catchers and balanced
Blue Jays - 0 catchers otherwise balanced
Nationals - 21 catchers
