League News
In the American League two teams sprint out of the gate. Philadelphia and Louisville are out to a six game lead. Meanwhile over in the National League, all the teams are bunched
up with Indianapolis out front by a game. John Coleman (Louisville .446, 12 RBIs) and Tip O'Neil (Philadelphia Quakers .429, 2 HR, 16 RBIs.) are the top batters.
Mike Smith (Chicago White Stockings 7-1, 3.27 era) is the first pitcher to reach 7 wins.

Washington News

Washington Nationals

Success for the first half of the season was some pitching for the Nationals.
It came as a surprise as Ice Box Chamberlain is at 11-4. Ice Box is
undefeated in July so far. The meat of the batting order is coming together.

The pitching staff is on the way up. Second year man Ice Box Chamberlain (11-4)
and Rookie Phenomenal Smith (9-8) lead the Nationals.

It is that time of the year again. Will there be a repeat this year between Philadelphia and New York? Or will there be two different teams to
vie for the World Series. Something new this year is the introduction of a AA and an A league in the world of baseball. Stay tuned to find out.

Eastern League Update

Some past greats are getting a second life. Pat Hartnett (TOR) .347. Cal McVey (WHE) .339. and Mike Mansell (TOR) .322

July 1st 1888 Update

League News: Over in the National League, Cincinnati, Chicago, and Boston are beating up on the rest of the league. With the Giants holding fast in fourth place. Not one batter or
pitcher stands out from those teams. Meanwhile over in the American League, St Louis still hold the top spot, with the Nationals falling to 5th Place with a 10-14 June. But still other
teams are bunched in between.

Eastern League Report

Former ML team the Providence Grays are the laughing stock on the Eastern League. The Grays have lost 11 straight games and
sit in last place. The Jersey City pitching trio of Jack McCarty (16-8, 3.43 era), James Sweeney (16-8, 4.07 era) and Henry Murphy
(15-11, 3.24 era) lead the Skeeters with a little more than half way into the season.

New England League

Billy O'Brien (Lyn, 3.29, 18 HR, 71 RBIs) leads all three leagues with his 18 HRs. Former St Louis Red Stockings pitcher
Terry Larkin (76-98, 2.37 era) has seen the most work with his 241 IP.

August 1st 1888 Update

The National League is seeing two very opposite streaks. The New York Giants are in the midst of their 10 game winning streak, meanwhile The Philadelphia Quakers are on a
10 game skid. Over in the American League, our own Nationals are trying to stay in the hunt. An improved 12-12 record for the month of August. Rookie Ed Delahanty (.289, 21 RBIs)
was named the Rookie of the Month.

Eastern League Update

This league has a very tight contest. Jersey City, Toronto, and Wheeling are all with in 5 games of each other.

Batting Leaders: Jacob Doyle is the current leader from Wheeling.

Pitching Leaders: Jersey City has 3 of the top 5 pitchers.

New England League Update

Newport is leading down the stretch. But watch out for Lynn as they are on a 6 game wining streak.

Team Batting Leaders below. Douglas Barnes still is the batting leader. Billy O'Brien never hit a home run in his 4 year big league career.
He leads with 23 big ones and holds the single season mark in all three leagues.

Below are the Pitching Leaders. Frank Fox is doing quite well this season. Teammate Levi Hickman is also tearing up the league.
