Penguins 2
Predators 3

Zach Steppan, Filip Forsberg, and Craig Smith all had two point nights for the Predators. Good news for the Predators as Joe Vitale will return to the lineup from the injury list.

GAME #22 (17/11/2021)

Predators 1
Wild 2 (SO)

Shots on Goal: 26-45

Louis Philip Guindon single handedly earns the Predators a point by stopping 41 shots in regulation, but the Predators can’t close the deal as they fall to the Wild in a shootout. After a scorless overtime, the Wild would end the shootout after just two rounds following goals by Jonas Brodin and Nick Beaudoin and misses by Ed Sharp and Filip Forsberg. Nashville had penalty trouble all game as the powerplay chances were 5-0 in favor of the wild. Philip Holm had a solid day on the backend for the Predators blocking three shots, getting two shots on goal, and ending the game a +1. The top line for the Predators struggled managing only three shots in the game.

GAME #23 (18/11/2021)

Sharks 3 (SO)
Predators 2

Shots on Goal: 28-31

Predators lose their second straight game in a shootout as Sharks come back in the third and proceed to take the game in a shootout. Erik Haula was very effective in limited ice time for the Predators as was the top line of Sharp, Backstrom, and Forsberg who scored both Predators goals and had 13 shots between the three of them. Sean Day had another good day on the blueline throwing five hits, blocking three shots, and ending the day a +1.

GAME #24 (21/11/2021)

Blues 3
Predators 6

Shots on Goal: 26-33

Predators offense comes alive in the third scoring four goals in the period on route to a 6-3 win. Nick Foligno and Craig Smith each who had a goal and an assist in the win. The Predators had a balanced attack with all four lines scoring goals. Trey Lewis play a good defensive game blocking four shots and throwing two hits for Nashville. Sean Day was once again solid blocking four shots and recording four hits.

GAME #25 (23/11/2021)

Wild 3
Predators 2

Shots on Goal: 32-22

Wild hold the Predators to just 22 shots while Nick Beaudoin breaks a 2-2 tie late in the third period to get the Wild the win. Jake Milan had a phenomenal game – in addition to getting a goal and an assist he had five shots and four blocked shots. Filip Forsberg had a good game, but his linemates struggled. Craig Smith was held pointless but was one of the few Predators to get some pressure on Pekka Rinne having four shots on goal.

GAME #26 (25/11/2021)

Predators 4
Islanders 1

Shots on Goal: 34-26

Predators control the game, get one of their best performances of the year in 4-1 win over Islanders. Philip Holm was especially solid on the back end for the Predators blocking six shots and throwing three hits. Colin Martinhook also had a good game on defense for Nashville having four shots on net and finishing a +1. Craig Smith was dominant on the wing scoring once and leading the Predators with six shots on goal. The Predators once again got a balanced attack with all the lines showing their effectiveness at times.

GAME #27 (27/11/2021)

Predators 3
Devils 4

Shots on Goal: 27-41

Predators make furious comeback after trailing 3-0 after two periods, but fall 4-3 to the Devils. Nick Foligno made an impact with his physical play recording five hits in the game. Philip Holm and Colin Martinhook struggled as a pairing in this one, getting pinned inside their own zone for much of the game.

Glad you're enjoying this. I can post league leaders, but I doubt I'll do rookies as there is no filter for them as far as I know.

Predators 3
Penguins 8

Pittsburgh’s offense explodes for eight goals led by Sidney Crosby who had a goal, two assists and seven shots. The Milan-Lewis pairing had a tough time getting pinned in their own zone and ended the day a -3. The Bailey-Steppan-Vitale line had their chances, but also had numerous defensive breakdowns as the line ended the game tagged for a -3. Rookie winger Ed Sharp had a good game for the Predators, playing decent defensively and had five shots on goal and two hits.

GAME #29 (2/12/2021)

Filip Forsberg was also good having an assist, finishing +1, and getting three shots and three hits helping lift the Predators to the 3-2 win. Felix Girard will reportedly be in the lineup for Nashville’s next game against Ottawa.

GAME #30 (5/12/2021)

Predators 1
Senators 3

Shots on Goal: 32-32

Semyon Varlamov makes 31 saves leading the Senators to a 3-1 victory of the Predators. Sean Day had an excellent game manning the blue line for the Predators finishing with two assists, four blocked shots, four hits, and two takeaways. Brent Seabrook was also excellent defensively blocking seven shots in the win. Filip Forsberg was by far the best forward for Nashville leading the team with nine shots in addition to scoring a goal. Nick Foligno was solid despite being held pointless, finishing the game with five shots.

GAME #32 (10/12/2021)

Blackhawks 2
Predators 1

Shots on Goal: 34-20

Chicago holds Nashville to just 20 shots on goal while Teuvo Teravainen scores the game winning goal early in the third to give the Blackhawks the 2-1 victory on the road. The bottom two lines for the Predators struggled in this game, not generating much offense, and with the Haula-Vitale-Bailey line finishing a -1. Philip Holm had an unproductive game on the blue line, getting pinned inside his own zone for much of the action.

GAME #33 (12/12/2021)

Stars 3
Predators 2

Stars dominate the shot clock, allow just three shots in the third period to preserve the 3-2 win. It was a rough day for Sean Day who was a -2 in nine minutes of play before leaving with an injury. Trey Lewis had a solid game defensively blocking four shots. The top line for the Predators was held at bay, ending the game with no goals and just three shots on goal. Craig Smith was arguably Nashville’s best forward finishing with an assist three shots, and a hit. Shots on Goal: 25-36

Hurricanes control the flow of the game, and Matt Olson and Franklin Peterson each have a goal and an assist as the Predators fall 4-2. Matt Boyle and Trey Lewis struggled for the Predators finishing the game with just one shot on goal and a -1 rating. Philip Holm was very good defensively for Nashville blocking four shots and ending the game +2. Felix Girard was one of the best forwards for Nashville, recording three shots on net and five hits.

GAME #36 (17/12/2021)

Predators 4
Bruins 5

GAME #37 (20/12/2021)

Senators 0
Predators 1

Shots on Goal: 32-37

Louis-Philip Guindon make 32 saves, and Nick Foligno scores the only goal of the game as the Predators snap their five game losing streak with a 1-0 win. Philip Holm had a great game patrolling the blue line for Nashville finishing with three shots on goal and four blocked shots. Nick Foligno was the best forward for Nashville leading the team with seven shots and four hits in addition to scoring the only goal of the game. Joe Vitale also had a strong game finishing with four shots and a takeaway in just over thirteen minutes of ice time.

GAME #38 (22/12/2021)

Predators 0
Oilers 3

Shots on Goal: 22-39

Oilers dominate Predators, Jack Campbell makes 22 saves as the Oilers cruise to a 3-0 victory. Matt Boyle and Trey Lewis struggled on the blue line for Nashville each ending the game at -2. The Oilers did a good job containing the Predators top line who were held to five shots in the game. The Haula-Smith-Foligno line struggled unable to generate any offense and being on the ice for two of the three Oilers goals. Josh Bailey was one of the few who had a strong game for the Predators, finishing with four shots. Brent Seabrook returns to the lineup for the Predators next game against the Canucks.

TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT:
Canucks trade 34 year-old LW Nick Foligno, the rights to 19-year old C Sergei Adigamov, and a 4th round draft pick in 2024 to the Columbus Blue Jackets for 20-year old RD Jammu Parkkonen.

Foligno has 18 points in 33 games this year for the Predators while Adigamov has 6 points in 37 games in the KHL. Parkkonen has 21 points in 36 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets this year.

Jammu Parkkonen is a former first round pick who has had a great start to his young NHL career. Already playing big time minutes at 20-years of age, Parkkonen is an smooth skater who excels in his own end of the ice. He is competent at getting the puck out of his own end, and is a great puck handler for a defenseman but his instincts in the offensive zone leave something to be desired.

GAME #39 (23/12/2021)

Predators 5
Canucks 4

Shots on Goal: 32-38

Predators get redemption after 7-0 loss on opening night with a 5-4 win in Jammu Parkkonen’s first game as a Nashville Predator. Brent Seabrook played a good game in his first game back, registering three shots and three blocked shots. The top line had their chances, and scored twice, but also struggled with some defensive assignments finishing the game a -2. Felix Girard had a good game for Nashville scoring a goal while ending up with four shots on goal while throwing four hits.

GAME #40 (27/12/2021)

Wild 5
Predators 1

Shots on Goal: 27-26

Louis-Philip Guindon has a rough game letting in five goals on just 27 shots, while Pekka Rinne closes the door on the Predators forwards. Jake Milan struggled defensively spending most of the game in his own end and finishing the game -2. The Girard-Mohler-Smith line also struggled ending up -2 on the game, although Brett Mohler led the team with four takeaways, and Felix Girard led the team with seven hits.

GAME #41 (29/12/2021)

Predators 2
Stars 3

Shots on Goal: 27-32

Stars score twice in the third period to come back from a 2-1 deficit after fourty minutes of play, to escape with a 3-2 win. The top line for Nashville generated plenty of chances with 13 shots on net, but struggled defensively ending the game a combined -5. Trey Lewis and Colin Martinhook struggled defensively for the Preadtors, each ending the game -2. Brent Seabrook played a solid game finishing with three shots on goal and four blocked shots.

The Flyers have kind of been a fringe playoff team the last little while. They have Connor McDavid and Taylor Hall but no real supporting cast.

Ooph, looks like you've hit a bit of a rough patch. It does look like you have some talent on your team though, so maybe next year is the year? Keep up the good work.

NASHVILLE PREDATORS GAMES #42-48

GAME #42

Bruins 2
Predators 4

Shots on Goal: 32-27

Predators score two third period goals to get the 4-2 win over the Bruins. Jake Milan had a fantastic game for the Predators, scoring a goal recording four shots on net, and leading the team with seven blocked shots. The top line for Nashville was buzzing around the Bruins net all game, ending with ten shots and one goal. Colin Martinhook had a quiet game, being a non-factor for most of the contest.

GAME #43

Predators 2
Panthers 7

Shots on Goal: 36-34

Panther offense explodes in 7-2 lead by Paul Bittner who had 2 goals and an assist. The Lewis-Martinhook pairing had a very rough outing finishing -3 in just nine and a half minutes of ice time. The top pairing of Holm-Parkkonen didn’t fare any better finishing -3. The top line was a bright spot for the Predators finishing with thirteen shots on goal and an even rating. Unfortuanately, the depth lines for the Predators struggled defensively.

GAME #44

Predators 4 (OT)
Sabres 3

Shots on Goal: 33-41

Ed Sharp scores the game winning goal in overtime as Predators get a hard earned 4-3 victory on the road. Philip Holm had a nice bounce back game recording an assist, three shots on goal, and a couple of blocked shots. Rookie, Ed Sharp had a great game scoring a goal, while racking up three shots and six hits. The fourth line played a solid game in their limited time on the ice. Filip Forsberg, despite finishing pointless and -1, had a good game registering four shots on net and four hits.

GAME #45

Predators 2
Flyers 5

Shots on Goal: 31-27

Mike Smith has a rough game allowing five goals on just 27 shots, while Connor McDavid, Claude Giroux, and Hunter Shinkaruk all have two assists in the 5-2 win. The Milan-Seabrook pairing struggled in this one, getting pinned in their own zone for much of the game on route to finishing -2. Felix Girard had a great game for the Predators finishing with six shots, three hits, and three takeaways. The Bailey-Haula-Vitale line struggled defensively ending the game a -2.

GAME #46

Leafs 6
Predators 2

Shots on Goal: 31-33

Toronto score four goals in the first, cruise to a 6-2 victory over the Predators. The Seabrook-Milan pairing struggled, getting pinned inside their own zone for extended periods of time and finishing -3, although they did throw five hits each. Nashville’s top line had their chances, generating eight shots, but had some defensive breakdowns finishing the night -2. The fourth line was solid for the Predators despite finishing -1, sustaining consistent offensive pressure throughout the game.

GAME #47

Hurricanes 2
Predators 1

Shots on Goal: 38-33

Louis-Philip Guindon makes 36 saves, but the offense can’t pick him up as the Predators drop their third straight, this time by a 2-1 margin. Jammu Parkkonen was good for the Predators recording two shots, two blocked shots, and finishing the game a +1. The pairing of Trey Lewis and Colin Martinhook struggled, unable to get any offense going and finishing the game -1. Josh Bailey had a very good game despite being held without point, leading the team with five shots on goal while throwing two hits. Filip Forsberg also had a good game registering four shots on goal, three hits, and two takeaways.

GAME #48

Kings 4
Predators 1

Shots on Goal: 30-23

Predators manage just 23 shots, as they fall to the Kings 4-1 on home ice. The top pairing of Parkkonen and Holm had a rough game, finishing a combined -3 with just one shot on goal. The top line struggled to generate any sort of consistent offensive finishing the game with just three shots on goal. The Haula-Bailey-Vitale line struggled defensively finishing the game -2. Pontus Aberg played an excellent game for the Predators registering three shots in just over seven and a half minutes of ice time. After the game it was announced that Louis-Philip Guindon would be day to day with hip injury.

TRADE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Predators trade 27 year-old C Felix Girard and 36-year old Joe Vitale in exchange for 20-year old C Yves Blanchette, 37 year-old RW Rick Nash, and 28 year old RD Andy Welinski.

Girard has 11 points in 32 games for the Predators this season while Vitale has 5 points in 28 games for Nashville. Blanchette has 2 points in 37 games for the Oilers, Nash has 19 points in 43 games with the Oilers, and Welinksi has 0 points in 2 games in the AHL.

Yves Blanchette is a big center who has great playmaking ability, a good shot, decent physicality, and a responsible defensive game. Yves biggest weaknesses are his hockey sense and his foot speed.

Rick Nash is expected to fill in on the 2nd line, while Yves Blanchette is penciled in the 3C spot.

What I want to know is why is Pekka not on the Predators anymore? the guy is an all-star and I do not see much of a return on the team. I love the team and this dynasty however! hope the Preds can bounce back.

Rinne was lost to free agency. Rinne was old and not really all-star caliber anymore (more of an average starting goaltender) and the CPU didn't trade him when his value was still high. The CPU doesn't make the smartest decisions in this game, especially with the Nashville Predators who I deliberately picked because they looked like they had the most ****ed roster in the game.

That really is a shame that he isn't still around. I always hoped Pekka would retire a Pred. And I didn't know you simply simulated to 2021 or whatever that is really interesting I will have to try something like that.

Yeah I simulated to 2021 because I like to play with the CPU generated players. I know a lot prefer the real players, but it always annoys me when they don't perform/develop like how I think they should. Don't have that with CPU generated guys.

greenOak,

I'm along for the ride living vicariously through your writing! <grin>

It's probably something simple, but how are you getting the player stats to export to spreadsheets? I'd love to be able to do that but haven't found the conversion easy to do. I'm working with Office 2010.
