Any MLS fans here?
I know that it isn't up to the standard of top European leagues, but it gives me soccer I can watch during the summer and games I can get to in a couple of hours drive.
Big Columbus Crew fan here, weathered the soap opera of last season and a half, and will be heading to my first game of the year on Saturday!

I've been to a few Chicago Fire matches (maybe 5-6 yrs ago), a SKC match (3 yrs ago), and a Columbus Crew match (about 15 yrs ago)

I do follow Atlanta United with interest from afar. Great crowds and great football culture they have cultivated in the southeastern United States.
I lived in the Northern Virginia area for 10 years and went to dozens of DC United games. They dominated the early history of the MLS and then fell on hard times. Last edited by rudel.dietrich; 05-13-2019 at 02:06 AM. |

I watch when Portland or Houston are on Tv. I am pretty angry the city of St. Louis is too incompetent to put together a functional bid.

I love MLS. I bought espn+ just for it. A fan of both NYC FC, and Red Bulls.
It does not have the same level of talent of top-level leagues but it is competitive, and matches are exciting. MLS already has a lot of history with dynasties and team's trying to with their first championship. League has come a far way fast. I would say for me the biggest downfall is inconsistent attendance among the teams. A good amount of teams draw really well, but some teams (New England) never seem to get a consistent crowd even when they are doing well. I wish there was a more balanced schedule as well. I would love to see a play everyone in your conference x2, and the other conference once. |

The Crew match we attended was good, if disappointing, but LAFC is an excellent team. Now that the new ownership is in place, I am hoping that they will be able to make some changes to match up with what the new coach needs.
Picking up Guzman and Accam will help some, I like Guzman being able to spell Higuain, and also to be a defensive mid when needed, and any help with scoring from the wings could make a big difference for the Crew, who have a huge difference between expected goals and actual goals.

Made it to the Crew-NYCFC game on Saturday. 2-2 draw, would have preferred a Crew win, but it was a fun game to watch and the second NYC goal was a beauty.
It was Zach Steffen's last game with the Crew, so it was nice to be there to give him a send-off. It was also good to see the Crew representing for the start of Pride month with special warm-ups and participation from the LGBT community in the National anthem and other parts of the pre-game. Between the ownership and coaching chance and a rash of injuries, this does not look to be a good year for the Crew, but they still have the bones of a good squad if the new GM can add some pieces. Also amused that they have the potential, down the road, of an Abubakar and Aboubacar central defense pairing to make announcers lives a little tougher.

I am hoping the Red Bulls are for real now and can make a run at MLS Cup. We will see. I hope both our teams can improve their attendance also. |

I look forward to seeing what the new GM will be able to do. He did some great work in Toronto, so I have hopes. Picking up Guzman and Accam are decent finds, both really seemed to find there rhythm last week. I always look forward to Crew-Red Bulls games, they always have intensity and are usually important to the playoff picture. Attendance has been an issue for years in Columbus. It wasn't helped by Precourt's outright sabotage the last couple of years. I thought it was interesting, at the end of last year, when I realized that I did not receive a single call from the ticket sales department, or a single email, and neither did my daughter. WE have been attending games together and separately since about 2005. I am 2.5 hours away from Columbus, so never a full season ticket, but anywhere from 2-6 games, plus playoffs. We always get calls both pre-season and during the season. But not last year.
