Mac vs PC Version?

Thinking of taking the plunge finally but i have a mac.

From reading up I really love the user community and custom files like the historical stadiums.

To download user content such as historical stadiums, do they work on mac as well as pc? or will pc have a bigger user base?

Really want to get this game (ootp20) but if I won't have access to all the user/developer content on mac as I would on pc, then I may need to wait until I have access to a pc.

Everything except announcer voice works 100% on the Mac. I've been around since '07 with this game, and since '81 with Apple products. Any help I can offer...just ask. The 2d and 3d stadiums work flawlessly on my mid 2011 iMac.

I can be a resource for Mac related questions as well. The only thing that I've seen which works better on a pc are the baseball cards. Mac now has an issue with special characters...when a player has one in their name no baseball card will show up.

Even with that, I would never switch...I'm Apple all the way!

This will be my first season, and I am excited. Long time SOM player, and hoping that this will take care for my "craving" and love for the game.

Question for the Mac users, is it best to buy directly from the website or from the app store? Any differences?

Hope to hear back today, as I am looking to purchase tonight and get started! Thank you in advance.

If you buy direct from the website, you will get updates a couple days earlier. Sometimes there is a glitch in the update that is caught before it goes on the App Store. Bottom line, no real difference in my opinion.

Out of those with the Mac version, which way did you go and what has your experience been like? Seems like going through the app store would be quickest and easiest in terms of installation, but still wondering if not having Apple "involved" is the best in the long run when it comes to updates and such.

I went off the website. I don't see a need to cut Apple in on the hard work of the Development Team. Updates are simple and convenient. I've never had anything but positive experiences with this site. That's such a rare thing to be able to say anymore. Glad to have another Mac person about!

I used the App store the first 2 years I bought it, but then realized there was no benefit to it. I like contributing more to the developers and getting updates much quicker.

I bought from the App Store. Reason: you can find app store gift cards for as much as 20% off, which is like saving 20% on what you buy with them...such as OOTP.

Default setting works fine but play around with it and see which setting you like.
