Scoring error

I have noticed this on balls hit to the wall down the LF and RF lines and balls hit to the wall in RC and LC. A runner is on first in each example.

1. The game log says the OUTFIELDER throws the ball for the trailing runner, the batter, at third base. If the outfielder did throw directly to third base like the game log says, then it should be a triple but game log says double.

2. The animation shows the 2nd baseman, or SS for ball hit to LF, going to outfield grass and RELAYING the ball to third base. If this is correct, then it still should be a triple.

3. Maybe the intent is for the 2nd base or SS to cut the ball off and throw to third trying to get the trailing runner. If this is the intent, then the game log and the animation are both wrong. The game log never mentions the 2nd baseman/SS. The animation should have the 2nd baseman or SS mid infield where they could cut the throw off to home and then throw to third.

I have posted these examples in the animation thread but I do not know how often those get looked at

These issues are limitations on the current 3d system. What should happen in these cases is that the OF throws to the plate, and the batter attempts to take the extra base due to the throw, so would be scored as double+advance on throw. We'll revisit these plays and hopefully do a better job at representing these plays in the future.
