Clint Conatser passes away at age 98.
Clint Conatser, 98, who was the oldest living Boston Brave, passed away on August 23. He was only a major leaguer for two years, 1948 and 1949, but his timing was good as he played for the World Series bound 1948 Braves in his rookie year. Conatser hit .277 in 1948 and he appeared in two World Series games that fall. He followed that year by hitting .263 in 1949, but that was the extent of his major leagues career - finishing his career hitting .271 in 376 at-bats, with 6 home runs and 39 RBI, but with no stolen bases.

Dick Hall reaches Wikipedia's 100 oldest MLB players list
Dick Hall is the newest member of Wikipedia's 100 oldest players list at #100. He was an outfielder when he reached the major leagues with the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1952, but around 1956 he was converted to a pitcher due to his lack of hitting and his impressive throwing arm. Hall was a major leaguer 19 years in a 20 year span from 1952 to 1971. (An injury forced him to miss the entire 1958 season). Hall was effective both as a starter and as a reliever. Out of the bullpen he notched 68 Saves. As a starter he pitched 20 Complete Games, with 3 Shut Outs. In 669 MLB Games Hall pitched in 495 of them. The lanky 6 foot 6 inch righthander finished with a 93-75 record, with a 3.32 earned run average. Hall also pitched for the Kansas City Athletics, Philadelphia Phillies, and Baltimore Orioles. HE WAS A KEY CONTRIBUTOR TO THE ORIOLE'S 1966 WORLD'S CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM. Born 9/27/1930 Hall is due to turn 89 next month.

1955 Topps - Dick Hall
Dick Hall's first Topps baseball card (1955 card # 126) with the Pittsburgh Pirates lists him as an outfielder-third baseman. Can someone please post it?

Thanks, TN for the 1955 Topps Dick Hall card. While we are on the subject of 1955 Topps cards, here is the first baseball card that I can remember ever owning and collecting.

https://listindiario.com/el-deporte/...-mackey-moreno
HERE IS THE LOOSE GOOGLE TRANSLATION José –Mackey — Moreno, the only player in the history of Dominican winter baseball with a 30-30-30 campaign in pushed, scored and robbed races, died Friday night at the General Plaza de la Salud Hospital at age 61 years old Complications in the lungs would have been the causes that caused the death of Moreno, who also played in the major leagues with the New York Mets, San Diego Padres and the California Angels teams. In November of last year, the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) made a well-deserved recognition to the "Mackey" Moreno, who in his 14-year career in Dominican winter baseball. He stood out for his great speed and versatility to play in the box. In the last 20 years he had problems in his lower extremities that significantly limited his motor capacity. José de los Santos Mauricio Moreno established himself as a fast utility that won three championships with the Escogido, played 14 seasons on the Dominican ball, between 1974-75 and 1989-90, 11 with the Lions and two with the Azucareros del Este. "Mackey Moreno is one of the historical players in the Lions of the Chosen franchise, he is among the leaders in different lines only surpassed by the Alou brothers, he must be an immortal of Dominican sport," said Ramón Cuello, president of the ACD . Moreno, who was born in Santo Domingo, on November 1, 1957, received a plaque of recognition and publicly thanked the gesture made by the Lidom executive committee. "I feel very excited about this recognition made by Lidom and the Star Player of the Week," said Moreno, who was a batter with both hands and served as an intermediary and gardener. I got the 1980 Met card off the internet and the others came from different post on another forum on this site |

Jay Publishing - 1959 Phillies - Wally Post
Starting in the early 1950s Jay Publishing began producing sets of black and white photos of players for a few major league teams. By about 1957 the were producing team photo sets for all major league teams.
Later they expanded their business into producing sets of photos of football players for almost all NFL teams also. Jay continued their business of sports photos (always done in black & white) for about 15 years from approximately 1952 to 1966. Here's an example of their work from their 1959 Phillies set......slugging outfielder, Wally Post. |
