Mets fan --- No Mook Man?
Mookie Wilson, CF.
The absence of him in Perfect Team is a little surprising. I hope he makes it in in a special set/edition or in XXI. Maybe his raw stats don't add up but he must have excelled in some intangible that could possibly be measured. He was one of my favorite players to watch. Focus. |

Solid vet. Since he was part of a World Series winner but didn't make an All Star team, he would be a good iron or bronze Unsung Hero.

I agree. Bronze for sure. I'm guessing anyway low 60s vs. high 50s.

Wow, I´m surprised Mookie´s not in the game, I just assumed he was. It´s a pity because he figured in with my mission suggestion. I thought it´d be fun to collect cards in pairs of two players that were forever connect in baseball lore. There´s a ton of them, guys like Ruth and Root (whom I don´t think I´ve seen in the game), Alexander and Lazzeri, Downing and Aaron, Gibson and Ecks, and of course, Mookie and Billy Bucks, oh well.

Eckersley + Gibson could possibly = a Jim Thome...
I believe that Gibson HR was the beginning of term "walk-off"... Eck said something about walking off the field when he hit it? Jim Thome is the sole player with 13 "walk-off" HRs according to the random internet site I visited. Well, not entirely random. It listed 5 or 6 players as having 12 in their career... Frank Robinson, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Mantle...

I don´t know if they´d ever do it or how difficult it would be to code, but you never know. There´s also the Carl Mays/Ray Chapman combo, but that´s a bit on the morbid side for my tastes. Don´t know what the reward would be and not sure I want to contemplate it. Of course to make it worthwhile you´d have to collect a set of pairs, but maybe you could break the missions up into themes, like walk-offs, goats (ooh, I just thought of Tinker and Merkle!), and so on. Still don´t know where that leaves us with Mays and Chapman.

He's in there now as an 81 gold, although I haven't played him so much ... something about the "heat" of the moment/competition changing your thought processes or obliterating them with fiery rage.
