1909 Hall of Fame

Nicolas Ramirez, RHP - The top player in this year's list, but still not at the Hall of Fame level. He pitched for 10 years, with 5 of those being upper-tier pitching value, 4 resulting in All-Star appearance. Then injuries took over and a strained triceps, torn flexor tendon, and strained oblique turned him into average/replacement level.

Career MLB Stats: 245 G, 321 BB, 839 K, 2.31 FIP, 82 FIP-, 39.9 WAR

D.J. Gilbertson, RHP - Gilbertson was a top pitcher in the first two years of the league (All-Star in 1900) but solidly average after that. He retired at the age of 37 having spent his entire career with the Angels, resulting in a World Series championship in 1901.

Career MLB Stats: 224 G, 392 BB, 564 K, 2.61 FIP, 92 FIP-, 29.4 WAR

Sean Jetty, RHP - Jetty was an average pitcher with flashes of brilliance. He never made the All-Star team but had a few 4.5-5 WAR seasons.

Career MLB Stats: 209 G, 232 BB, 453 K, 2.66 FIP, 94 FIP-, 26.9 WAR

Josh Gentile, 3B - Gentile was an above average player and would make a great coach. He won 3 Silver Slugger Awards and was the 1904 NL Championship Series MVP, helping to propel the Pirates to their 1904 World Series.

Career MLB Stats: 5856 PA, .332 wOBA, 118 wRC+, -83.6 ZR, 26.0 WAR

Jim Zablocki, SS - A replacement to average player, with an All-Star appearance in 1900. He had 6 hits in a game in 1901 against the Mets.

Career MLB Stats: 4665 PA, .331 wOBA, 113 wRC+, -85.5 ZR, 15.2 WAR

Rashan Rodriguez, RHP - The first reliever to show up for the Hall of Fame. He won the World Series with the Pirates in 1904.

Career MLB Stats: 415 G, 146 BB, 251 K, 2.41 FIP, 83 FIP-, 13.7 WPA

1909 Top Under 30 Players

Pitcher
Yago Pimentel - Despite all of the injuries, Pimentel is still putting up very good numbers. It really makes you wonder how well he would have done if he could stay healthy.

Zach Jensen - Last year's Pitcher of the Year winner has been performing at a high level for 5 years now. He signed a long contract with the Royals through 1916. He was drafted in the 6th round out of Wake Forest in 1903. Once he made it into the Royals system, he had a meteoric rise in potential which catapulted him into the starlight.

Catcher
Bobby Fendley - Drafted 6th overall in 1900 and spent 3 years in Rookie ball, then jumped to AA in 1903 and then became the White Sox starting catcher. He has won both a Gold Glove and a Silver Slugger and is a 4-time All-Star.

Dan McKee - McKee was drafted in the 2nd round in 1900. He has made 3 All-Star teams, won two Silver Sluggers, a Gold Glove, and was the 1905 World Series MVP with the Red Sox.

First Base
Aiden Massicotte - He won the MVP award in 1907 in just his 3rd year in the league. He jumped straight from college to Rookie to A in 1904 and then started 1905 as the Royals starting 1B.

Second Base
Andrejs Silamikelis - Is well known by now - He might have 2 or 3 MVPs if he were healthy for a full season.
Murray Gunnell - The Yankees 2B came out of Pepperdine in 1904. He also jumped right into the Majors in 1905, winning both the Rookie of the Year and MVP.

Shortstop
Oliver Finnie - He was a 4th round pick who really took a step forward in 1903. His offense is back and forth but his shortstop defense is elite. He was never ranked as a top prospect but has really come into his own as a Major Leaguer.

Centerfield
Rob Mosher - If nicknames existed, his would be masher - not for his propensity for mashed potatoes, but because of the hitting. In his final year of college with the San Diego State Aztecs, his wRC+ was 193 - nearly twice the offensive value over the average. He has continued that hitting in the major leagues.

Nick Caruso - Caruso has above average offense, but his defense is his real focus. He was selected 12th in 1903 out of East Carolina and moved into the major leagues very quickly, starting in CF for the Athletics in 1904.

Mosher's peak years will happen with the Houston Astros. They signed him to a 5-year contract.

Avila signed with the Devil Rays, which is weird, but oh well. He'll be 39 by the end of this contract so we'll see how much he has left in him and if he'll be a free agent again.

Chris Adams is the top pitching prospect. He was the 49th pick in the 1907 draft out of Fond du Lac, WI. His reasonable potential of 65/80 turned into huge potential of 80/80 in 1909.

1910 Draft Top 100

Name: EbenezerDaniels.PNG
Views: 160
Size: 31.0 KB
The top draft prospect is a high schooler out of New York named Ebenezer Daniels. He's a lefty with a ton of power and good enough contact to make use of it.

Name: DerekAbraham.PNG
Views: 163
Size: 28.7 KB
The top college player and second overall draft prospect is Derek Abraham - after failing to sign with the Dbacks in 1907, he spent the next 3 years with Missouri and will be looking to get a nice paycheck, though I'm skeptical that he will actually sign.

Name: TitoMiller.PNG
Views: 154
Size: 37.4 KB
The top pitcher is a Vanderbilt lefty, Tito Miller who will rely on the development of his changeup to make it as a big league starter.

2 cycles for teammates in the same game, pretty uncommon. I don't see any discrepancies in the box score, it's just one of those baseball rarities in a 23-11 game.

1910 MLB Playoffs

Yet again the team which signed the top free agent won that year's World Series. Mosher didn't help much in the World Series, going 7 for 33 with no extra base hits.

1910 Free Agency

The top free agent this year is 28-year-old Ash Ingle. He was originally drafted by the Mets in 1903 and was ranked as high as the number 2 prospect.

Another even year, another Yago Pimentel free agency year. He had the best year of his career in 1909, with nearly a full healthy year and a total of 5.0 WAR. He is currently out for another 9 months with a torn UCL.

1910 Unsigned Draftees

The number two draft pick was unable to sign. The Washington Huskies needed a lot of help - their team was 5 players short.

1910 Where Are They Now?

Top Prospects:
Aiden Shelton - The top prospect in 1905 broke into the big leagues in 1906 with the Diamondbacks and has been one of the top CF since 1906, making the all-star team in 1907.

Jonathan Kinnunen - He has been even better the past couple of years, culminating in a Pitcher of the Year award this season.

Draftees:
Eric Olena - He made it to the major leagues in 1907 and has held the Rangers right field job. He took a step forward this year from an average major league player to above average, made the all-star team, and won the RF Silver Slugger.

Levi Bryant - Bryant was the top high school player in the 1905 draft. He made his major league debut in 1910, starting at 1B for the Rockies and coming in right at an average player.

Jack Gilkey - He was the top pitcher drafted in 1905, but failed to sign and returned in the 1906 draft, where the Cubs drafted and signed him. He was the 1908 World Series MVP and has been a good pitcher.

Rohan Rogers - He was the top high school player drafted and moved up through the Cardinals system, playing in R, A, A+, AA, and AAA until finally getting a September 1910 callup.

Award Winners:
Murray Gunnell - He won the AL MVP in 1905, his rookie year. He has still been doing very well and finished third in AL MVP in 1909.

Kevin Kramer - 1905 was Kramer's best season but his value has dropped significantly in 1909 and 1910, his age 35 and 36 seasons.

Chris Keleher - Keleher was the 1905 NL Rookie of the Year and made the 1908 All-Star team. Beyond that he has not had a great couple of years, performing more as a backup or 4th outfielder.

Other:
Levi Morgan - He pitched the first perfect game, which occurred in the NCAA. He was drafted in the 3rd round in 1905 by the Angels and had an okay year as a starter but was recently moved into the major league bullpen.

Benjamino Lazalde - He was the first pitcher to reach 1,000 career strikeouts. More on him later.

Wanderson Rivera - He pitched a perfect game with 18 strikeouts in Low-A. He has yet to make a major league roster, but has been doing quite well in AAA.

Dylan Mitchell - He was the top unsigned draft prospect after having failed to sign with the Mariners as their 3rd round draft pick. He played 3 years with the Clemson Tigers and signed with the Reds, this time in the 1st round. He's a top-50 prospect and just recently was promoted to AA.
