In sandbox, historical mode, when trying to renew some contracts, get the message that player has not yet been drafted, despite fact he has been on team and playing the current season. Also same players are not showing up as free agents when free agents file.

started as 81 Bruins, think I was up to 1984. And, in retrospect, cannot be 100% certain about players not appearing in free agent list, only really looked for Norm Leveille, whose career was tragically cut short about that time, so game may have eliminated him from free agent list (and future seasons). But the players not yet been drafted issue was real, for sure.

Was "Recalculate player ratings before each season" on, or were you using the regular development engine? If it's the former, it'll automatically retire players after their historical final season, which would explain Leveille not being available in 84 (but the error message still needs to be changed if that's the case.)

Recalculate was on, but there were a total of 3 players I was unable to sign due to player not yet been drafted message. Sorry, can't remember the other two by name. Don't think the others' careers ended at that time.

Still getting player has not yet been drafted message, and players not available as free agents, causing team to lose said players completely. Getting this now with 2000-2001 Tampa Bay Lightning, lost 7 players from roster.

one or two may have been acquired in trades, but here's the list: Rominski, Lecavieller, B. Richards, Posmyk, Kharitanov, Olvestad and Keefe. Also, started season in 1992, have lost others along the way, but can't recall who, except for Jerome Iginla, who was definitely acquired in trade.

I tried replicating the 2000 Tampa start and it was OK - no issues with re-signing Lecavalier, Kharitonov, etc. once they had a year left on their contract. I think we're going to need to see one or more of your saves where this is happening to find out what's going on.

Sorry Jeff, deleted game. I started in 1992 and played seasons leading up to 2000. Seems that players become unavailable in 2nd year ? Both Lecavellier and Richards had played for 2 seasons when contract was scheduled to be up, then resigning became impossible. Will see if I can replicate with current game, starting with 2010 Bruins.

Thanks. The problem appears to be that their rights aren't set to Tampa, but that shouldn't be possible; they're supposed to be assigned at the start of the game or when the player is created (since you're playing without the draft.) We'll have to do some investigating.

There is a workaround you can use, though, if you want to keep playing this save - go into commissioner mode, edit the player so his rights are with Tampa, and you'll be able to sign them.
