GEORGE EAGEL WW
Hometown - Oakland, California, USA 13(10)-24-9; 4 NC Eagel began his pro career at the tender age of 16 in the San Francisco Bay area. He won his first three pro bouts but quickly became an opponent and journeyman. Among those who honed their skills throwing punches at Mr. Eagel were Harry Collins, Travie Davis, Kid Lee, Tommy Uren, Sid Godfrey, Dave Shade and Tuffy Wing. Although he faced quite a few good boxers, there really aren't any good wins on Eagel's resume that you can point to. About the best that can be said of him is that he was well traveled; fighting on both American coasts and Australia. He did fight for the Orient Welterweight Title against Irineo Flores at the Olympia Stadium in Manila; the result was, of course, a loss for Eagel.

HARRY DUDLEY WW
Hometown - Los Angeles, California, USA 24(3)-29-13; 9 NC Dudley was a brawler, a runner, a clutcher, a dirty trick artist, a diver, whatever it took to avoid getting hit for a while. In one bout, Dudley and his opponent were repeatedly warned to box until the referee finally declared a no contest and handed their purses over to charity. Another of Dudley's bouts was stopped due to wresting and excessive holding. After fighting Dudley a second time, Travie Davis said "His ring tactics are the lowest of any boxer I have met", Davis vowed never to enter the ring with Dudley again. Though they won't be clearing a spot for Mr Dudley at the boxing hall of fame, he did manage to win bouts over Tiger Johnny Cline, Travie Davis, Sailor Billy Vincent and Sergeant Sammy Baker as well as a draw with Oakland Jimmy Duffy. He was also stopped by Young Jack Thompson and Baker; lost on points to Willie Harmon and KO Roberts and had a No Contest bout with Joe Dundee.

FYI - The Master Lists are on page 12
JACK DOUGHERTY LW
Birthplace - Radford, Nottingham, England, UK 3(2)-11-4 It would be a tall order to find a boxer with 20 or fewer pro bouts that faced a more difficult line up than Jack Dougherty scheduled for himself. In a career that totaled only 18 bouts, Dougherty was out-pointed by Eddie McGoorty, Harry Lewis and Tordeo Billy Murphy. He was stopped by Jimmy Gardner, Twin Sullivan, Joe Walcott and Murphy; and fought to a draw with Honey Mellody, Gardner, and Murphy. Jack didn't even allow himself a chance to make a running start, his first three bouts were against Murphy who already had over one hundred pro bouts under his belt when they met. Remarkably, Dougherty battled to a draw in their first meeting.

ED DENFASS MW
Hometown - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA 23(7)-8-3; 4 NC Denfass was in the ring for six years and fought six rounders almost exclusively. He did however face a number of top Middle and Light-heavyweights of the day. Early on, Denfass scored victories over Tommy Cleary, Charley Johnson, Owen Ziegler and Billy Stift as well as a draw with Klondike Haines. Ed dropped bouts to Jack Root, Philadelphia Jack O'Brien, Jack Williams and three to George Cole. He was stopped twice in 34 pro bouts and only had two bouts scheduled for more than six rounds, one ended in a 10 round victory on points over Bob Long, the other saw the inexperienced Teddy McMahon knock Denfass out in the first.

TOM BRODERICK LW
Hometown - Yonkers, New York, USA 9(5)-11-3 Broderick dropped bouts to Kid McPartland, Cub White, Matty Matthews and Joe Gans. The only good win on his resume was a sixth round TKO over Mike Leonard. When in trouble, Broderick was not adverse to using illegal methods in the ring.

Hometown - San Francisco, California, USA (also lived in Seattle, Washington) 11(5)-5-1; 1 NC Brodie fought mainly local stiffs on the US West Coast. His only bout against a name fighter was a decision loss to Pete Cerkan in what was the final fight of his pro career.

MARTY CROSS WW
Hometown - New York, New York, USA 26(13)-25-7; 2 NC Cross was a tough journeyman that faced some of the best welterweights (not to mention middles and light-heavies) of his day and held his own. Though his record is not a stellar one, his single career stoppage loss is testament to his chin given the level of competition that he faced. Marty defeated Johnny Howard and Frank Loughrey on points; stopped the Zulu Kid and Albert Badoud; he also drew with Bryan Downey and Badoud. Cross took decision losses to Downey, Lou Bogash, K.O. Loughlin, Soldier Bartfield, Jimmy Jones, Panama Joe Gans, Oakland Jimmy Duffy, Jack Britton and Ted Krache. His lone KO loss came late in his pro career against Nate Siegal. Marty was a tough customer, he just ended up on the wrong side of too many decisions.

PHIL CROSS LW
Hometown - New York, New York, USA 28(4)-6-6 Save two trips to Philadelphia and one to New Orleans, Cross fought his entire four year career in New York. He feasted on soft competition but fared rather well with the several name boxers that he faced. He scored wins over Paddy Sullivan, Phil Loughrey and Young Hickey. Cross and Young Erne had a six rounder declared a no decision but Cross won the newspaper decision. Kid Alberts handed Cross two losses at the end of his brief career, one of which was the only stoppage loss he suffered in the ring.

LITTLE DEMPSEY (Robert Hilado) FW
Born - Philippines 12(0)-20-6; 1 NC Little Dempsey fought as a pro for 13 years on the US West Coast and Hawaii. Other than a draw with Al Spina and a DQ win over Abie Israel, he had few resume builders in his career. He dropped bouts to Fidel LaBarba, Freddie Miller, Tommy Paul, Spina and Harold Hoshino. He suffered 6 stoppage losses during his career but did climb off the canvas (a six count) to defeat Frankie Gallucci in ten rounds.

FRANK FIELDS MW
Hometown - Oxnard, California, USA 29(20)-10-14; 2 NC Fields fought in California, mainly beating up on stiffs (one opponent was reposted to be an "off the street" replacement for a no-show). He drew with Willie Meehan and beat Fighting Bill Murray, although Murray defeated Fields on two other occasions. His one title shot (a chance at the Pacific Coast Welter Belt) ended in a 20 round draw with Mike McClure. Fields was stopped five times over a 55 bout career. However, he did fight a lot of soft competition and two of those stoppages came at the hands of very inexperienced boxers. He appears to have had a pretty rough crowd in his corner. In his bout with Jack Walsh (who was debuting), both fighters landed low blows with Fields being disqualified. Field's corner men jumped the ropes and kicked Walsh into unconsciousness.
