Exp w-l?
I am not sure what the EXP W-L is? Usually there is a +/- 5 game difference. But one of my PT teams is -11 win differential. Does this mean based on the matchups that my team underperformed and should have had 11 more wins?

re
That's basically what it means. And, if it was a positive number then it means that your team was a little luckier or more fortunate.

Based on your run differential, you should have 11 more wins than you currently do.

Thanks. So if my team performed to expectation I would be in 1st with the best record in the league. Instead I am 1/2 out of the wild card.

Ok, thanks. So basically, when I win I win convincingly, but I tend to lose the close games.

Usually teams with a strong bullpen and a good defense are the types that outperform their pythagorean record (more likely to win the close ones). Having a weak bullpen, a weak defense, or over-aggressive baserunning are ways to be "un-clutch" even if a strong offense and starting rotation are padding your run differential.

Yeah i dont think its anything to do with "clutch" its more expected wins in the sense that based on your overall play all season, you should theoretically have won or lost more. You might note (not always, but its observable) some teams with a negative pyth have a strong + on run differential. Similarly, teams with a positive pyth might have a negative run diff.
A good way to look at it might be that some of the games you lost were against teams that you should beat, but they just had a better game than normal that day. It is quite annoying to have a -10 or more pythag record, which I have had a couple times. I dont recall ever being +10 unfortunately |

When you run into a strong, hot pitcher, nothing else matters. You are already at a disadvantage that day. That alone can cause those days.

My team consistently underperforms their pythag. Last 4 seasons I've finished between 3 & 6 games below my expected record (and I don't ever remember finishing above pythag but could be remembering that wrong). I don't have a weak bullpen or poor defense either, as was suggested up thread. It's my offense that's inconsistent. Perhaps it's just luck but if so I'd sure like it the other way for a change!
