Steam and Download version on same computer?

I have the download version purchased directly from the developer's website. Is it possible to also purchase the Steam version and run it on the same computer?

I'm asking because of the ability to purchase PP in Steam. I think it would be good practice to purchase some PP and practice with it prior to the wiping of the beta.

It's possible but a bit tricky if you don't want to deal with each version reinstalling most data files each time you start.

That being said, the next patch will contain the ability to buy PP in the standalone version.

We're testing it out now and it should be released early next week, if all goes well

Sounds great. Good to know we'll have a chance to use it prior to the beta ending.

yes. it can be done. i've set it up for both Steam & Standalone to go into the same folders. only issue is in running Standalone games after Steam updates, you get an error it's from a newer version. i use Steam for testing things, Stand alone for the standard game. just made sure tests have a distinct name when i save them.

OOTP seems pretty robust and besides a single hiccup that
auto-corrected itself, we had all three OOTP versions on a single
computer.

If you want to buy points from your Steam wallet, you could
start the Steam version and afterwards (after you bought the points)
use your other preferred version of OOTP.

We noticed it was easy to log back into any of the accounts
in our family from a single computer.
