Cardinals head to Houston; Taguchi active Shere sent down
The Cardinals head for Houston for a three-game series with the AL West leading Houston Astros. The 2004 St. Louis Cardinals defeated this Houston team in a seven-game NLCS to reach the World Series.
St. Louis also has activated outfielder So Taguchi from the disabled list. Infielder/outfielder Floyd Shere was sent to AAA Chandler. |

Suspensions for Lincoln and Biggio
Cardinals relief pitcher Mike Lincoln drilled Craig Biggio with a pitch after allowing a home run to Jeff Kent in the seventh inning of St. Louis' 8-6 loss in Houston on July 6. It led to a bench-clearing brawl.
Both players have been suspended for four games. |

Cardinals finally return home to face Fish
Following a rough 7-10 road trip, where they dropped the last three to the Astros, St. Louis is back at Busch Stadium to face the Florida Marlins. Florida comes into the series with a record of 51-33 (.607), the best in either league.

Preview of series with Angels; Lankford squaks
In the midst of a six-game losing streak, the Cardinals are set to host the Anaheim Angels for a pair of games at Busch Stadium. Also, Ray Lankford is whining about an extension. Come and talk to me when you are not old and performing better.
