Random Historical Import Question

I created a league in 1901 with 4 levels, 16 teams each. I set the game up as a "custom world" so I could use an array of MLB and MiLB teams to fill out the promotion/relegation world.

I basically got it perfect in that everything works fine and I am getting real historical rookies. However, I would prefer these rookies be random eras, and currently the rookies of 1902 were all guys who debuted in 1902. I have both of these boxes clicked:

*Automatically import real historical rookies
*Use random rookies from all eras

It just doesn't seem to be registering the second part of my preference. Is the move here unclicking the first one, or will that negate any and all instances of real players completely?

The first boxed being checked it the problem, though I'm not sure if unchecking that will make a difference in 1903. Maybe create a backup and sim til then?

I have both boxes checked, so I don't think this is the problem.

The boxes are meant to be either/or not both.

I checked last night (OOTP16) when I saw this thread and both boxes are checked.

I also have both boxes checked in a random debut league I started in 1901. Just now finishing up 1924 and indeed do have rookies coming from all eras. Mike Trout and Yaz have already retired but have not seen Babe Ruth or Ty Cobb yet..
Interestingly have Cal Ripken missing games almost every year due to injury.

Make sure that you have the draft enabled. It won't do it if you have the (era-appropriate) setting of having them import as FAs enabled.

That must be what it is. I was leery of doing a draft, unsure how to get all teams from all of the levels in one big draft pool. Dang
