Questions about Recalculate based on real life stats
I have recalculate based on real life stats on, set to 3 years.
Current I'm in 1972 of my 1969 Expos sim. I desperately wanted to draft Gary Carter, but unfortunately my pitching staff has been so brutal in my first 3 years I had to draft Reushcel #2 overall. Carter was picked #8 by Boston. I immediately looked into trading for him. Boston would take my 2nd round pick, SS Larry Lintz who is currently 1 star, but 4 1/2 potential, in real life Lintz had only a 5 year career, never really panning out other than 1 50 SB season. Carter is 1 star, 3 1/2 potential. Good ratings, but nothing mind blowing. By looking at ratings only it looks like I should keep Lintz, 80 speed and steals with very good D, he's my long term solution at SS and Leadoff.... But Carter obviously becomes a HoFer in real life. How much will real life stats come into play? Will Lintz almost certainly flame out, while Carter becomes a HoFer. I realize there is some variance but how much? |

Real stats will rule. Carter will be Carter, more or less. Lintz will not be Carter, but he might be better in the short run.

Finally found it thanks
in this same "recalc" area, what would you suggest for the option "Base potential ratings on ...." choices are: "Selected Recalc Period Only" or "Remaining years of career" or "Peak seasons of career" or lastly "Remaining peak seasons" ? I am doing a "Historical" replay, using only Historical Major and minor league players |

I like remaining years of career. I have also used remaining peak seasons, but I think remaining years produces a more normal career arc. Willie Mays is Willie Mays either way.
