Playoff Roster Changes

I just opened some packs, got a nice new reliever I was going to plug into my roster. I started by putting the worst guy in my bullpen up for auction. When I tried to move the new guy in, it said no roster changes are available during the playoffs.

I understand why there shouldn't be roster changes in the playoffs, but then why did it let me sell a card on my roster in the first place? Now I have a 5 man bullpen and the series only just started - just because I didn't know about the rule. Is there a way to prevent this in the future for others who don't know? It's frustrating because I was about to go to bed (I live on the other side of the planet), and now I'm debating if i should stay up until the series is over so I can put the new guy on if we win.

You can't change anything mid-round. In between rounds, if you are following along, you can make any adjustments. But yeah, it sucks for this round, which hopefully isn't your last.
