My rotation is trash right now, but my bullpen is solid and I just pulled Willie Wilson and Mark Bellhorn to stabilize my team a bit. With Wills and Wilson setting the table for guys like Jones (leading the league in RBIs) and Cruz, this team should score runs. Defensively, Wills is not that good at SS but the OF is solid and the rest of the infield is good, namely Wallach at 3B. Still need an upgrade at C, but I'm scouring the auction house and opening packs when I can.
Got a gold "Running Crazy" with Willie Wilson for 9000 PP! That allowed me to buy 2 5 packs of standard packs. I'd say it went pretty well. Updated the following positions:

C - Kurt Suzuki 71
1B - Don Mattingly ('85 AS) 77
LF - Rickey Henderson ('82 Record Breaker) 74
RF - WILLIE MAYS ('54 AS) 100

SP - Shohei Ohtani 81
SP - Dennis Martinez ('91 AS) 72
SP - Jose Quintana 71

RP - Will Harris 84
RP - Aaron Bummer 79

So upgraded 9 positions with 10 standard packs plus pulled some good cards to auction. Not bad for 10k! Will be interesting to see how Ohtani pitches for us. I'm at 54-57 and need to make a run quick.

Nice. Were you flipping players in the auction house, or getting a lot of achievements?

Thanks, I've been grinding out the AH pretty hard which has definitely helped with the achievements. But I'm sure no matter how much work I put in there will always be a bigger whale out there, especially once the game becomes PTW. I just lost to a team with 5 diamond cards.

My latest roster:
Temple City Tempest TCT (finished entry pool 27-20, 12th)

(vs RHP; LHP flips order around some, just trusted AI)
1. 2B Jose Altuve Live 89
2. DH Scooter Gennett Live 78
3. LF Bob Johnson AS (1939) 83
4. CF George Foster AS (1977) 86
5. 1B Alvin Davis Rookie (1984) 78
6. RF Andrew McCutchen Live 74
7. C Mike Scioscia AS (1990) 75
8. 3B Matt Duffy Live 73
9. SS Brandon Crawford Live 71

Rotation
1. RHP Noah Syndergaard Live 98 (!)
2. RHP Gerrit Cole Live 93
3. LHP Mark Langston Unsung (1989) 72
4. RHP Jose Berrios Live 68
5. RHP Ervin Santana Live 68

Bullpen:
CL - RHP Silvino Bracho Live 66
SU - RHP Chris Martin Live 67
SU - RHP Alec Mills Live 67
MR - RHP Dan Petry Unsung (1984) 66 (converted starter)
MR/Lefty - LHP Will McEnaney Unsung (1975) 63
LR - RHP Vince Velasquez Live 65
LR/MR - RHP Matt Shoemaker Live 66

Bench:
1B/RF Cody Bellinger Live 71
CF Clyde Milan Record-Breaker (1912) 69
Super-Sub Brock Holt Live 68
C Mitch Garver Live 63

My pen is definitely my weakest link; I'm gonna be looking for a lefty or two in the near future. I'm not sure what to think about the converted starters; they have good control and movement mostly but their stuff pales in comparison to most "conventional" relievers, and I'm not sure how that plays out in the engine.

Petry and Velasquez were my opening day #1 and #2 starters. they are all that remains of my starter pack in the pitching staff. Of the batters, George Foster, Alvin Davis, Mike Scioscia, Clyde Milan, and Brock Holt were in my starter packs and Jose Altuve was in my first "real" pack (off the initial 1000 starting PP)

I've been very happy with Mike Scioscia and Alvin Davis for their ratings. Altuve went nuts, hitting .381 in the season. George Foster and Cody Bellinger struggled most of the season. Brock Holt struggled but given his versatility and the difficulty of finding a good 3B he got games.

Noah, Gerrit, Duffy, Gennett, and McCutchen came in a total of 4 post-seasons packs. Getting 2 diamond SPs and the 2 weakest spots in my lineup in 4 packs was pretty nuts. Duffy and McCutchen replacing Holt and Bellinger respectively.

I've done well in the market; I got some good cheap innings eaters in the 58-59 range for very little in Andrew Heaney, Kevin Gausman, as well as some great relief from Daniel Hudson and Zac Rosscup, a pair of Dodgers with 2 great pitches and not much else to argue in their favor.

For much of the season I had Khris Davis in the DH which made having 2 gold-tier LFs kind of awkward. I wavered on playing Foster in center (35 rated but good range/error/arm) and eventually sold Davis so Clyde would play every day (elite defender and running, so-so bat). Davis is rated 78 IIRC but is a steal if you can get him for what 78s normally go for; elite (+++) power with average contact. I don't know how long Gennett will survive in the DH hole; 2B production from a DH isn't gonna light the world on fire. I may sell him for a big fat slow guy and/or maybe just go back to Clyde in center.

Here is my current lineup. Just added Cabrera and Stearns (who is now platooning with Gary Carter) as I just got them from a pack. The lineup has the potential to be explosive if they can get their act together.

The majority of my bullpen has been pretty lights out but my starters have been hit an miss. I have set up some strategies to rely less on the shaky pitchers and relievers and more on the solid ones.

Well see how it goes in day 2 tomorrow.

LF Whitey Lockman 65

SP Michael Wacha 71
SP Denis Boucher 67
SP Clay Buchholz 66
SP Johnny Allen 60

RP Taylor WIlliams 65
RP Adrian Houser 54 (for some reason he simulates amazing)
RP Jimmie Sherfy 62
RP Tyler Mahle 51 (also simulates amazing for his overall - listed as a SP)

I had a 12 run comeback in the early entry pool games which blessed me with 6K perfect points, which was used to buy Greene, Suarez and Alvarado. Muncy and Collins were pulls, while Sizemore I bought as well. I bought Galarraga to DH and immediately pulled Muncy, with RF being the only spot I could fit him.

Team after the initial packs: http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...2&postcount=24

There has been a lot of change since, including almost the entire pitching staff (to no great effect). Team is ten under .500, last place, and mostly hopeless. Contreras was an All Star. Soriano is t-5th with 26 homers. Minoso hit for the cycle. And that was already all the glory.

Rotation:
SP - 72 - David Cone (1994 AS)
SP - 66 - Dave Dravecky (1985 USH)
SP - 69 - Rick Porcello
SP - 68 - Ross Stripling
SP - 68 - Jose Berrios

Bullpen (the horrors!):
CL - 68 - Giovanny Gallegos
SU - 71 - Carl Willis (1991 USH)
MR - 69 - Tommy Hunter
MR - 68 - Victor Arano
MR - 66 - Luiz Gohara
MR - 63 - Cam Bedrosian
LS - 52 - Brian Johnson

Catchers:
C - 73 - Willson Contreras
C - 64 - Tucker Barnhart

Infielders:
1B - 83 - Anthony Rizzo
2B - 71 - Alfonso Soriano (2003 AS)
3B - 75 - Doug DeCinces (1983 AS)
SS - 79 - Carlos Correa
INF - 68 - Adam Frazier
3B/1B - 68 - Christian Villanueva [DH!]
INF - 68 - Jeff McNeil

Outfielders:
OF - 89 - Minnie Minoso (1954 AS)
UT - 73 - Chris Taylor
RF - 69 - Ichiro Suzuki (2001 Rookie)
CF - 63 - Juan Lagares
