Question Historical Sims and Morale

I have tried to sim the 1974 Cardinals twice now, and morale and "clubhouse bickering" and "bad apples" have ruined my season both times. Given that the personality traits are random, (one year Bob Gibson was a great guy and another year he had high greed and low work ethic, etc.) do most people turn off that feature when playing past seasons?

I leave the feature on and edit the personalities as needed. Most of the time, you can get a player to "normal" just by editing one personality trait by a few points. If I notice something wrong on another team, I will fix those too.

FWIW, I kind of enjoy random morale for real players. Admittedly it seems a little awkward to find Yaz playing the part of a clubhouse cancer, while Dave Kingman is a stand up guy. The upside, for me, is that it helps turn historical leagues into my own personal universe.

Just as an example a couple of leagues ago I had to trade Brooks Robinson because in this play through he was a trouble maker. It wasn't realistic, but it sure was fun to ponder the decision. Viewing a historical league as a personal universe rather than expecting exact results has allowed me to stop picking apart individual events that mighty seem problematic.

That makes sense (I guess), but it is kind of silly how cryptic it is and how you need to be Sherlock Holmes to figure out where the problem is. I don't mind it so much, but I hate the "trial and error" and making moves solely to improve clubhouse morale, without regard to a player's skills.

It seems to me that the solution to a problem clubhouse is always a winning record. While I agree that dealing with morale can be cryptic I would argue that it is also not an exact science in real life. Perhaps I am a masochist but I kind of enjoy that part of the game.

One thing I would really like is a branching dialog tree with unhappy or problem players. I realize this is probably too "gamey" for many players. OTOH, I also enjoy RPG's so the idea hits me in a sweet spot. Maybe not so much for others.

This ^

I never have morale issues on good teams.
