Arrow Using a PT Two-Way Player to "Emergency Pitch" Only

In PT, say you have a position player who also has a low rating as a pitcher, is there a way to set him up in your pitching rotation so the AI can use him in emergency situations only, such as a blow-out game, when you don't want to waste a regular pitcher, or a extra inning ball game, as a last resort, to use if you run out of regular pitchers?

I tried to do this in PT20 with Cool Papa Bell and Martin Dihigo. When they were in my starting lineup, they were only used in relief on days when they were too fatigued to be in the starting lineup. When they were on the bench, they pitched far too regularly.

To make a long story short ("Too late!"), I never found the right settings to make this work in the manner I desired, and I personally don't believe it is possible. I hope I am wrong.

Question

Does anyone know how to set up a Two-Way Player to "Emergency Pitch" only?

You can set them as a two-way player without any bullpen roles, and then they'll be pretty much the last man in the pen to be considered. That would probably be the closest scenario. However the game won't necessarily bring them in if they were already in your lineup (depending on how easy it is to find a bench player to fill their spot, etc...)

Ok thanks for the info.

It would be nice if such an option was added to the drop-down Bullpen options.

Set to 'Long Relief' and 'Avoid High Leverage'. If used more than a very few innings per season, then you probably don't have enough relievers in general

I would think that having a position player pitching in an "emergency situation", they would only be able to pitch in "short relief", not "long relief" due to the fact that they would not have the stamina that a "regular pitcher" would normally have.

What one thinks and what the program "thinks" are two different things. You asked how to set 'a PT Two-Way Player to "Emergency Pitch" Only'.
