If the Bulls trade Butler i will not watch a Bulls game for the next 3-5 years. i do not want to become the 6ers. i do not see the Bulls building around Jimmy buckets after calling out Hoiberg several times. While I dislike Rose, we still needed him.

Looks like small ball might be over in Oakland. The Warriors drafted a seven foot center and signed an undrafted 7'6" kid from Senegal.

At the draft (I was there), after every first round selection, Celtics fans were holding their heads. Second round was a bit different.

I could be dead wrong. But from watching Brown it seems like he has every skill athletically except actually playing the game of basketball. I was very unimpressed with him at Cal and taking him at #3 seems like a huge swing and miss.

IMO Bender was the obvious #3.

How desperate was Team USA to fill slots if Harrison Barnes was invited?

It seems like Brown is definitely athletic enough for the NBA, just his shot needs work. Bender was definitely my #3 there. Celts could have gotten Brown at around 7 imo.

Yeah, I think the Celtics tried every trade they could and were told no on every single one.
I think after the first two picks the value of picks dropped.

At least they didn't pull a Kings trade and trade a dollar for three quarters.
Good god that organization is inept.

One of the things that's so crazy about how the salary cap is going to explode during the next few seasons is that while the teams will have a lot more money to spend, they can still only sign the same amount of players.

It would be good if the NBA thought outside of the square, and increased the amount of money teams can spend on their D-League players also. I'm not sure if they've already thought about that, though.

I would think the player's union would be more concerned about keeping the money for themselves instead of sharing with people trying to take their jobs away.

There has been talk about this. The NBA wants to expand to 30 D-League teams and have them all have 15 man rosters who are extensions of the parent leagues rosters.
And the next CBA will very much have talks over D-League salaries.

The union is very much for banishing the minimum age provision while the league office wants to keep it in place or raise it.
I think a compromise will be that 18 year olds out of HS can sign with the D-League, get a year of professional experience under real coaches with no artificial limits on the amounts of hours spent training and can begin to mold players to their system.
Then these players can enter the draft.
To offer an attractive alternative to the NCAA D-League salaries would need to increase.
If the minimum D-League contract increased to an attractive number then I think that would provide a strong alternative to good players who choose to skip the NCAA and get a year or two of professional experience without having to come to Europe.

This will very much be talked about in the next CBA. The NBA wants to have a real minor league system in place and the union also wants this since it means more athletes making real money.
I think since the two sides are so far apart of the age issue that this could be a battleground issue that is compromised.
Keep the age limit in place but increase the D-League money to have a NCAA alternative.

I love Mozgov, but I wonder what happened to him this season. There were hints that something was wrong, maybe physically, maybe something in his life. I remember some comments by him to the media that he didn't want to talk publicly about what was wrong, but that he did talk to Kaun.

His confidence seemed to just vanish this past season. I hope he's Ok. Good luck to him.

4 yrs at 16 per is a lot of money to set aside for someone you're not clear is going to start, let alone lead your team. The amounts being shelled out are rediculous. Do the teams have to spend this money? Conley is getting $30 mil per.

And the news I'm hearing is Wade was offered only $10 mil. Living in Miami can't be that great for him to take an insult like that. I don't know what Riley is thinking. Other NBA players see that type of crap. They think, "if they treat a guy like Wade like that, how are they going to treat me?" It took Chicago a long time to live down the rep they got after they treated Jordan & Phil the way they did.

Yes, teams do have to spend the money because the salary floor rose to just above what the cap was last season....remember the cap went up $24 mil alone.

So teams like the Lakers who had barely any money spent are giving out these contracts because they have to get up to the salary floor, and guys that don't deserve these massive contracts are hitting the lottery.

Wade is NOT coming to Chicago. He's playing contract games. He will snub The Bulls again and resign with Miami.
