Question(s) About a "MLB Plus One"

I posted about this idea here eight years ago and, wouldn't you know it, I now have plenty of time so I want to actually go through with it.

Long story short ...

I want to do a Major League Baseball (Plus One) Historical League. In other words, I want to start in 1901 with the MLB setup, but simply add a fictional team; as if my great-grandfather was a wealthy man and had a team in New York way back when and then just proceed with a typical MLB simulation.

1. And this is pretty open-ended ... could you foresee any issues having the additional team would cause with some of the automated parts of the game (expansion, minor leagues, etc)? I know that's a pretty large question but maybe something pops in your head

2. Would adding two teams be better; make it even?

3. I did this real quickly once and I struggled with creating players for my team. At first, I figured let's stay really accurate and I found the 27 players that played in 1900 but didn't play in 1901 or beyond (courtesy of BR) and I "convinced" them to play for my new team. Problem is I really struggled to create ratings for them. I was gonna start a new league for 1900 and just copy the ratings but I never got around to do that. Would that be the best way or is there some sort of stats-to-ratings type of website/app/sheet that can help?

4. Do the minor leagues all appear and disappear as the game goes on if I add this one team?

Thanks in advance.

Beyond thinking of populating your 1901 team with the players who played in 1900 but didn't play in 1901 (in reality, I'm guessing a lot of these players played in the minors in 1901), what is your plan for populating your team's roster going forward? For example, in 1915 or 1925 or 1945, what players would be on your roster, ideally? The best minor-leaguers & maybe some negro leaguers? And/or would you poach or draft some players off of other MLB rosters? Or?
