Historical American Association schedules?
I'm looking for AA schedules from 1920 onward, hopefully in the "plug in and play" lsdl format. I found some good ones from LGO for IL and PCL, but didn't have any luck finding any AA stuff when searching. Thanks for any help anybody can provide!

Second link did the trick! Thanks! Sadly, nothing for 1926-30, but the rest of the 1930s are covered at least.

If there's a schedule that you need, I might have an alternate source, such as schedules printed in local newspapers from the AA cities (KC, Toledo, Milwaukee, etc.). The trouble there, though, is that, with the Sonny Bono/Mickey Mouse copyright extension law that extended corporate copyrights to 95 years, there was a moratorium on putting anything online that post-dated 1923, and that included old newspapers. That embargo has only recently lifted, so we should be getting stuff that was published up to 12/31/1925 in the coming months. If that sounds a bit ridiculous to you (and it is), write your congressperson and urge them to change the law. |

Not only are you right, but I take issue with the substance of the law that extended copyright. Since it was passed well after the 20's, I'm willing to wager it wouldn't pass Constitutional muster under the ex post facto rule...
Any lawyers out there?

The law was challenged and, in my opinion, a lot of really good arguments were made as to why the law was unconstitutional. None of them persuaded the supreme court. So we're stuck with a Mickey Mouse law that was designed to keep Mickey Mouse out of the public domain. And, by the way, in case anyone would like to see what sort of material we have to work with in making these historical schedules, here's an example: Not a pretty picture, eh? |

It inspired me to run to the basement and check one of my boxes. Sadly, old SN Baseball Guides and Registers don't have minor league schedules. They do, however have lots of statistical data for the minors. My collection stretches back into the 20's. Think there'd be any interest in scanning the data out? Who would I contact about that?

I found my list of leagues I was trying to fill in fielding positions for last spring for OOTP20. Here is what is still missing from what I have been told.
1950 and 1951 stats in particular are still missing quite a few so if you have the 1951 or 1952 guide it might be able to fill in a lot of missing fielding position info. Here are the leagues that had players with missing fielding positions last time I checked. 1940 Coastal Plains League 1949 Ohio-Indiana League 1950 Coastal Plains Lg 1950 Colonial League 1950 Far West League 1950 Kansas_Oklahoma-Missouri League 1950 Longhorn Lg 1950 Mississippi-Ohio Valley League 1950 Mountain States 1950 North Atlantic 1950 Ohio-Indiana League 1950 Sooner State 1950 Sunset Lg 1950 Tobacco State Lg 1950 Western Carolina Lg 1950 Wisconsin State Lg 1951 Coastal Plain League Far West League Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri League Longhorn League Mississippi-Ohio Valley League Mountain States League Ohio-Indiana League Sooner State League Western Carolina League Wisconsin State League 1952 Coastal Plain League Kansas-Oklahoma-Missouri League Longhorn League Mississippi-Ohio Valley League Mountain States League Sooner State League Western Carolina League Wisconsin State League 1953 Longhorn League Mississippi-Ohio Valley League Mountain States League Sooner State League Wisconsin State League 1954 Longhorn League Mississippi-Ohio Valley League Mountain States League Sooner State League 1955 Arizona-Mexico League Longhorn League Mississippi-Ohio Valley League Sooner State League 1956 and 1957 Arizona-Mexico League Sooner State League 1958 Arizona-Mexico League 1960-62 Western Carolina League If you have guides that show fielding stats (usually includes games by position as well as PO, A, E and pct) and can scan the pages to me I will make sure the data gets sent on for inclusion in the minor league DB. thanks

I'll dig through and check. Have the list printed to refer to. I'll probably just snap pix with my iPhone...way quicker and less destructive to the books. I'll start a thread when I've got a decent number scanned.

That's perfect. Just any image I can read would work. Thanks

I've for sure got 27, 23, and I believe everything from the 30's on. Still digging. Have found 30-33,36,38, and a stack from the 40s-70s I haven't organized yet. Not that we need it necessarily, but have the 80's-07 inclusive.

I'll certainly be doing that. Sidebar: NO DATA in the guide for the 1950 Colonial League. Apparently they shut down mid-season, and that may be gone forever...

I still have 65 schedules to convert from the PCL and IL (1931-1976 period). I don't know when I can get to them. My health had declined a bit and was hospitalized from November 2018 to July 2019 and in a rehab home until last month. No internet or computer during this time so really miss OOTP and the projects I want to do.
