Ottawa Senators Season 2012-2013
I am going to post a day to day as much as I can s that people who don't have the game can try and see what the game is like. To start off with, I won't be simming the games in game. Takes too long and there isn't much for me to do. I will post the recaps of the games though so you can see how things go that way. If you have any questions or comments, please leave them and I will do my best to answer or assist all. Please enjoy

GAME 1 vs Montreal Canadiens
Due to an injury to Chris Neil, Kaspars Daugavins played instead. Neil will be sidelined with a sore shoulder for the next 5 days after an injury in practice. Just a sore elbow but could be problems later on if it doesn't heal well. Will stay tuned on this one.
Overall, we played a pretty solid game. |

GAME 2 vs Washington Capitals
We were outplayed quite a bit of this game vs the Capitals being outshot 35-20. Anderson had a very solid start again to help the team make it to overtime and then lose in a shootout for a 3rd point in 2 games.
Chris Neil missed another game with the sore elbow but is expected to be back next game. Daniel Alfredsson and Guillume Latendresse both scored for the Senators to give the team a 2-0 lead but some defensive lapses allowed the Capitals to come back to tie it. Next game, we will be travelling to Pittsburgh to take on the mighty Penguins. Last edited by tcblcommish; 04-04-2013 at 02:51 PM. |

GAME 3 vs Pittsburgh Penguins
Very solid game by Robin Lehner stopping 21 of 22 shots vs the Mighty Penguins. There was a couple of scraps in this game, Eric Gryba and Brooks Orpik went at it and Milan Michalek and Brendan Morrow also had an altercation. Chris Neil made his return to playing and played well scoring his first of the season. Latendresse continued his solid play scoring his 2nd of the season.
In some news around the league, Henrik Sedin was injured while fighting and will miss the next 8 months with a broken kneecap. Couple of things wrong with this part of the game but I'm sure that will be addressed in the future. |

GAME 4 vs New Jersey Devils
The Devils kind of put us in our place tonight as they beat us 2-0. Typical Martin Brodeur making 33 saves for the shutout. Anderson was great again in net and stopped 36 of 38 shots and should have been a game star.
Not too much happened in this game other than outstanding goaltending but Marc Methot must have been a little frustrated as he took at 10 minute misconduct penalty in the 3rd period. |

GAME 5 vs Toronto Maple Leafs
Huge win over the rival Maple Leafs tonight, 4-3m in a shootout. We peppered 43 shots on Reimer and managed to put 3 goals by him. Colin Greening had a very solid game tonight scoring his first of the season and adding an assist.

Question - why did Washington shoot again up 1-0 after the 3rd round? Hamrlik (the 4th shooter) made it 2-0 and then the game's over? |

Seeing his 10 minute penalty, he might have gotten a game misconduct however if he did, it's usually for more than just a comment. He might have been hurt for the rest of the game also, not fully sure

Yes a game misconduct could account for him being ejected but what about the other two forwards? I would say that is an issue if the AI cant figure out what to do when one member of a line is either injured or given a game misconduct.

GAME 6 vs Dallas Stars
Ugly. That is the word to describe the performance by the Senators tonight. Dallas beat us all over the ice. Only bright spot for the team was again, Craig Anderson having a great game facing 45 shots and only giving up 3 goals.
On a side note, the Penguins suffered a massive blow to their playoff chances with Marc-Andre Fleury going down for the next 12 months. Last edited by tcblcommish; 04-05-2013 at 01:16 AM. |

GAME 7 vs Pittsburgh Penguins
Chris Phillips was injured in the game day skate, bruising up his hand but was able to play in the game. Decided to change the D up a little bit and move Methot up to play with Karlsson and dropped Cowen to the second pairing with Gonchar. Still gave up a bunch of shots but Robin Lehner was outstanding with a 2-0 shutout.

Something weird is going on, Gonchar and Cowen didnt play much at all in that game. Keeping a closer eye on icetimes now. ok, Gonchar was hurt and it looks like they just don't play that line when someone goes down.
This has to be a bug Last edited by tcblcommish; 04-05-2013 at 01:27 AM. |

GAME 8 vs New York Rangers
A pretty good game vs the Rangers though the club found out today that we will be missing Sergei Gonchar for 3 weeks after spraining his ankle vs the Penguins. Mike Lundin came into the line up and Gonchar was put on IR.
Cory Conacher scored his first as a Senator and Alfredsson added his 4th of the season. Robin Lehner was solid but again, had a hard time scoring. Maybe time to start moving some players around in the line up to try and generate some offense. |

GAME 9 vs New York Islanders
Well, team is back to it's old ways but getting killed in every way. 2-0 shutout was solid for Craig Anderson but the offense just can't get going at all. Jason Spezza is struggling pretty badly this seaosn, hasn't scored yet and only has 5 assists. He really needs to get going.
Might be looking at the trade block, maybe someone can help kickstart this group... we shall see in the coming days. |

GAME 10 vs Phoenix Coyotes
Well, again, different team, same result although we got a point in a shootout. Anderson was outstanding again, making 44 saves to get the game to the extra frame and shootout. Alfredsson and Daugavins both scored in the game but it just wasn't enough.
On a side note, G. Latendresse was a healthy scratch tonight when he was feeling a little under the weather. He should be ok in the next game vs Anaheim. |
