Both are very useful. I've also found Elite Prospects to be a bit more in-depth.

It often has stats from international tournaments and lower leagues than hockeydb does not, particularly with European players.

As an example, here's Martin Gernat, a 2011 5th round draft pick of the Oilers. At hockey db you only have his WHL seasons:

At EP, you have those plus his three previous seasons in Slovakia with his club's U20 and U18 teams:

Please keep track of the expansion draft history throughout league history.

By the way, i'm playing Hockey Legacy demo and i'm having some fun selecting toronto and drafting players from the past in the historical season. I've only "played" the draft but my mind runs wild with my selections. If only we could tell the future. (I like their idea of team voting captains/alternates, FHM should adopt that one)

I'm going to have a blast with this in FHM. I've always idealized those hardcore baseball fans playing historical mode in ootp. For me it meant nothing as i really don't know them to begin with so real or fictional, it didn't matter. But now i'll get the same experience with hockey.

I just hope you consider my suggestion for putting some sort of placeholder in the players stats if they don't "play" that season.

I think in the initial thread the discussion on the difficulty of rating players reinforces a common misconception about hockey stats - that deeper level stats just cannot exist due to the nature of the game. While hockey statistics might not reach the level of baseball statistics, they've really advanced a lot. For this game to be as great as it could be, you should be reading and understanding how these statistics impact the game. It would solve many problems of rating players (for example, why play an enforcer?), and would help you rate the players so they perform as they do in real life. Hockey Prospectus and hockey-reference.com are good starting points but there is a lot of information out there if you look for it.
Or you can do what EA does for NHL 13. Bull **** your way through the whole process and make sure the Canucks have the best team in the game by far... Oh, and make sure Dion Phaneuf is a top 3 dman in the league because that will make Leaf fans happy.

Nothing drives me more crazy then playing NHL 13 and going: "Gee, I want a top faceoff player around the league to play on my 4th line. I know maybe Scott Nichol or Mike Zigomantis... Wait a minute why is faceoffs their lowest attribute... DAMN YOU EA! Why is Hal Gil faster than like every AHL player?! DAMN YOU EA!

Wait... How did this turn into an EA rant... My bad. In other words, I hope attributes are done well and represent players individual talent so I can build a team through roles.

I've always enjoyed following goalies careers. An MVP like Plante how he could go from winning the Hart and Vezinas then having one struggling season to be sent to the minors recalled and eventually traded is amazing. The competetive world of the goalie in a 6 team league i'm looking forward to seeing in this game. How it takes so long to get up to the show, then 1 bad season and it's over. I hope that this game can accurately portray that.

I feel your pain and totally agree with everything...especially the Canucks comment.
