Interesting take on scouting

This might be the best and most accurate and "to the point" article I have read on scouting. I wish OOTP would use the "true 20-80" scale for as an overall rating. Scouts never give a player a 57 for instance, it would either be a 55 or 60.

OOTP already has the 20-80 scale in increments of five. Not sure if it works for overall ratings, but it definitely can be used for individual ratings, which are what really matter.

yes you can use 20-80 for overall, but he's talking about how sometimes it will show a player rating of say, 28 or 44. Also, unless you enable ratings relative to league, they will not be true 20-80 ratings where 50 is average.

even then I don't believe they will, and that feature does not work properly anyway. I am talking about the overall ratings being 20-80 but based on 5 as they are in real life.

No, scouts DO use an overall rating based on 20-80....but there are no 52's, or 66's.....its...20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50 ,55, 60, 65, 70 ,75, 80

Why? What's wrong? Didn't realize this was so controversial?

That whole series is worth reading. If interested, search the forum for a thread started by TheWolf back when this first came out. We had some interesting discussions, if I remember correctly.

I think it would be nice if we could choose the scale for overall rating (beyond stars and the current 20-80...which really isn't a true 20-80 scale) Since we have so many choices when it comes to individual ratings, why not expand those very same scales to be used in the "overall rating" as well?
