My logos stink

After really trying to work at this, I have come to the conclusion my logos stink...can anyone tell me how to make these better? I mean I guess they don't stink, but they are not nearly the quality of others I have seen. I am not looking for anything artistic...just plain simple logos.

Honestly though, I think some of the edges don't look so good. For instance, the Charlotte one

The ones you posted here look really good. The stroke around the logos looks great, so does the drop shadow. The only one I personally would adjust is the Huntsville one. It looks as if the original logo had a white stroke around it and then you added more white stroke to it so that it looks pretty thick. Other than that they are very good quality.

I'd be pretty jacked if my logos turned out half as nice as yours!

That original logo does have ragged edges to begin with. so it's tough to make it look perfect, but there is a little problem with yours.

I added a black background layer so you can see the problem. (see below) There's white artifacts surrounding the image. That can be caused by not using anti-aliasing when removing the white background or the tolerence of the eraser is set too low. This is why I always add a black background layer when working with logos, you can see much better.

Anyway, I think your logos look fine.

I am a fan of your stuff. It looks great. The line problems you speak of are likely due to the program you're using. You need vector for smooth lines, like Adobe Illustrator or Inkscape. I am guilty (99.5% of every project I work on) of using raster based programs when I should be using inkscape(vector) just because I find it more user friendly and convenient. As a result, my lines suffer one thing you can do to keep lines smooth if using raster is to take advantage of the blur features, and also take advantage of selection and refine tools. They aren't perfect, but really only vector is the true way to do scaleable logo work with clean lines.

Cheers

He's probably working with GIMP, like me.

The trick is to work with a big image, the bigger, the better. You only resize at the end.

Hey, I love your logos, justafans are great, yes..but I am turned off by the circular aspect...I like plain logos and yours are where it's at.

Agreed.

There's nothing wrong with your logos.
