Looks like the Nats get Joe Testa and the Twins get trade, as well.

I find this the best move yet. Even over the Oswalt and Haren deals.

Really? Ramos is going to be a stud. I understand he's blocked in Minnesota but they could have turned him into something better than Matt Capps.

Yeah, you would think so. Giving up anything for bullpen help not named Mo Rivera is a bad move. Is Capps really any better than Rauch or anyone else in that bullpen?

The Phillies trade was stupid. They could have had Cliffl Lee for the whole season for less $$$

Yeah, Matt Capps is a solid, but not great, pitcher. While Ramos is one of the better catching prospects in the minors (though, he is having a bad year and isn't that great). Great pick up by Washington, and just an ehh move by MN.

The Phillies were probably wrong to have traded Lee, but given where they were yesterday it looks like a solid pickup to me. They can't go backwards and undo the Lee trade.

I personally hate the Matt Capps deal, but u twinkies fans know why.

Sox are still rumored to get Edwin Jackson, Brett Myers and still Adam Dunn.

Edwin Jackson to the White Sox.

Chicago White Sox trade Daniel Hudson to Arizona Diamondbacks for Edwin Jackson - ESPN Chicago

Capps in my OOTP sim (have played out every game since 2010, starting many months ago) after signing him after 2011:

The rumor is that they're going to flip Jackson to Washington for Dunn.

Of course, the rumor out of Washington is that Dunn's not going to the Sox. Heck, I don't know what's going on with this. Every time Kenny does a trade where I find myself waiting for the other shoe to drop, it never drops.

Yeah, read that on MLBTR. If they do that, it works. But I've also seen the Sox are interested in Berkman.

If they flip, fine. But they also say that they'd be happy keeping Jackson.

Looks like it'll be an interesting deadline.

I'd be fine with Berkman if it also came with a time machine so that the Sox could get Berkman when he was good.

There are also rumors that the Sox are looking at Brad Hawpe.

And thanks, @FakeJoeCowley:

I agree they should have kept Lee in the first place, but unless the Phillies have access to a time machine that we don't know of, how can you call the Oswalt deal (which is completely separate from the Lee deal) stupid?

I like Happ and wish he was still here, but Oswalt is a better - more proven pitcher at this point.

I dont find anything I like about this trade.

If we take Capps career numbers and compare to Rauch this year Im not seeing much of an upgrade at all.

Capps was just on waivers last year.

If Jackson doesn't get sent back out, this is the dumbest pitcher pickup by the Sox since Peavy.

I dunno...it probably doesn't matter since he's a relief pitcher, but I'll chalk it up to misleading since Capps has been on two bad teams (Pirates and Nationals).

There was also a lot of hopes that the Twins would get Heath Bell; and Bell and Capps seem pretty similar.

I don't see anything wrong with this trade. Ramos sure didn't seem to appeal to many GMs. Seattle wanted a catcher...but passed on Ramos.

I feel the same about Ramos. I dont think he is going to pan out. Capps gives more relief help. Creates a solid setup role. Picking him up will help them when the central but they probably needed to pick up another starter to compete in the playoffs.
