just bought the game, problems already

In my inaugural draft I try to save and get this message:

APP Framework: save_bookmarks_page_links unable to open data file
Then

Database: Save_database- could not save database files
Then

OOTP could not restore the database files! blah blah blah.

I would love to be able to fix this without resetting the game, if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it,thanks.

Yikes zoom - that sounds like a mess.

Unfortunately there's not much I can suggest to you. It sounds like there might be some access or permissions problem with the folder OOTP is trying to save in. How much do you know about your computer?

You'd probably need to open a support ticket and provide the exact error messages you're getting - see if someone there could help you.

I think I tried to get fancy and change the folder the original file was saved in. I guess I will uninstall and reinstall- can I do that if I have my authentication code?- then just save to the normal path. Hopefully that will help.

Ah... yeah that's probably what happened - if you change the path mid-game things can get quirky.

I can't remember if you have to unlicense before uninstall/reinstall - hopefully someone else can remember and comment. Just write down your code before you do anything.

Good luck!

Unlicense, uninstall, erase all files, reinstall using the defaults, and relicense.

It pays to be sure.

Five thousand thanks for a non-modder? I never thought I'd see the day. Thank you for your support.

If you are installing on the same computer, you don't need to unlicense....

Except sometimes you do. Been there, done that.

Don't send a ticket in till you absolutely need to. OOTP has great customer service, but since their team is so small, it takes a long long time to hear back. - My experience
