Feeder league HS/College breakdown
I know I am creating a bunch of threads, but these are separate questions, so here we go.
My current league setup (16 ML teams with 5 levels of minors) needs about 66 feeder teams per the calculation in the manual. I know that to some degree this will be a matter of taste, but what are people's preferred allocation of teams to HS and College level feeders? I could just split it in half, but I feel like I'll have too many high school guys then? I'm not well versed on the real life breakdown between college and high school talent in the draft. Honestly I just want something that'll work well, I don't need it to be super realistic. I just want it to feel reasonable (whatever that means!). Advice? |

Feeder League breakdown
I would suggest maybe 70% high school to 30% college if you don't want to split it 50/50. There are many, many high schools in america compared to the number of major colleges so that is why I feel it should be in this ratio. Just an idea......

Feeder league HS/College breakdown
I gave up on feeder leagues. Could never get the number or the ratio right.

Well...I feel like I'm less interested in the real life ratio of number of high schools to number of colleges and more interested in the desired ratio of 19 to 22 year olds in my draft....

In real life, more college players are drafted (at about a 60/40 rate, I think) but more top prospects tend to come out of high school. So a 50/50 split in your feeders in OOTP isn't unreasonable IMO.
Another way to approach this is to ignore reality and just mimick what OOTP would have you do, on the assumption that it's modeled in a way that makes sense. What I mean is, you could set up standard modern OOTP league without feeders, run it for a few drafts to see how OOTP tends to allocate the draft pool between high school and college, and set up your feeders to mimick that. That's what I would do.

feeder ;eagie breakdown
Would I be incorrect in assuming that if 60% of your feeder leagues were HS and 40% were colleges that in the draft , 60% of the draft class would be HS age and 40% would be college age? That is what I meant when I gave you those numbers. Sorry I bothered .

Sorry to seem unthankful. Everything you said was totally true. I just wasn't sure what ratio of those players made for the best gameplay. There are definitely way more high schools than colleges in the US, but I wasn't sure how skewed I should make my leagues in spite of that.
