Feeder leagues and automatic historical expansion

So, I'm in the early stages of running a 'real life' MLB league with fictional players. I'm going to let the game automatically expand the league.

I also want to use feeder leagues.

I have 5 levels of minors, so using the formula from the manual, I need about 4.16 feeder league teams for every franchise in the majors. I'm assuming that I'll have to manually expand the feeder leagues when the automatic expansions happen in MLB...

I'm also assuming that at the time I expand those leagues I would want to have the new players which are added get added with a range of ages rather than entire crops of incoming freshmen, or I'll be a bit behind on the size of the draft pool increasing...

Anyone have experience with this? What are the pitfalls? Is this doomed to create a screwy set of drafts for a few years every time the ML expands?

Any advice would be welcome.
