Really high strikeout numbers
Not saying this is wrong but has anyone else noticed how high the strikeout numbers are compared to last years version. I've been running a league with default values except that I have a 4 man rotation with pitcher stamina set to normal. In my league history there's usually a 300 K season every other year. I ran my first season with this league and I had six pitchers over 300 K's with one that finished with 393. I know there's been a major shift in pitching in today's baseball and the game probably worked to reflect that. But these are a bit too high for my taste, anyone have any suggestions on what to set the modifiers to, to get pitcher output that was similar to what we saw in last years version?

In real life K rates when through the roof in 2012.....I'd try setting the league modifier for strikeouts to 0.800 and see how that grabs ya....

last year was the highest strikeout % in MLB history. almost 1/3 of EVERY out recorded in MLB last year was a K. I think the number was 30.2% of all outs were by K and it has climbed faster in last 4 years than it did previous 40 years.

I realize the rise in pitching in baseball but Im pretty fond of my league pitching records and I dont want them all being broken in the next two seasons. With the pitcher stamina set to normal Im also seeing a lot more innings pitched then in v 13 too so its a hard balancing act right now trying to find settings that would mirror last years default settings.

yea I can understand that. I haven't played very far into 14 yet, so I haven't seen first hand yet how the stats turn out and how players develop

Maybe I'm not getting it, but it seems to me that if you have a 4 man rotation, those 4 guys are going to get much more innings. Ergo, the strikeouts would increase.

I know that strikeouts would increase with a 4 man rotation, thats why I was using it in my old leagues. I felt like the prime of baseball was when there were 4 man pitching rotations. What Im saying was in my 30 year league history from ootp 13 I would get a 300 K season every other year and my league record was 348, pretty much aligned with the records of modern day mlb. All I was saying was when I ran one season on v14 the strikeouts skyrocketed with one guy shattering the record with 393.
I understand the strikeouts went up to mirror whats happening in baseball I just prefer to be able to run 4 man rotations without having pitchers get 400 K's every year. And I was just asking if anyone experimented with ways to lower the K rate. |

Get the league totals your looking for and remember to use auto-calc.
