Crowd Problem

I may be wasting everybody's time here, but here's my dilemma...
I'm playing OOTP 17 and I'd like to use the great 3D mods available here. The Day and Night files load great as well as the diagram files, however the .obj files as you can see from the included pic show a washed out crowd. Any ideas as to why? Everything else seems fine. Thanks in advance.

I know, I know...The animations are probably better, but from what I'm reading on the OOTP 20 forums, there are other problems that are scaring me away...

Don't believe everything you read.

(Granted, I never played 17 to compare to- I first got hooked on OOTP with 18. But while 18 was great, and 19 was even better, 20 is even better yet. Everyone has their own style of play and their own priorities based upon that so I get that not every change is good for every person. Still, I really think a great deal of the angst that shows up on the forums is hyperbole at best.)
