Sporr,
If the Muslims or Jews are right and I'm wrong, then I would expect them to give me the same respect that I am giving them under the assumption that I am right. Namely, live and let live. If I'm wrong, then I'll meet 90% of you in Hell. No big deal

Isn't it cool how they dug up Alf for those 10-10-220 ads? I just love those. Much better than that not funny Carrot Top.

I don't know - it's kind of distracting how Emmit Smith pronounces Alf as "Aelf"

IMO we are best off abandoning that sinking ship that is Off Topic to the rats infesting it and just starting a whole new Baseball Forum from scratch.

I think they need some chicks for those ads.
Mr. T
Terry Bradshaw
Mike (I'm Not Gay) Piazza
Kerry Earnhardt
John McEroe
Tim McGraw
Doug Flutie
Emmitt Smith
Alf
French Stewart(is he a man?)
You would think that you could get some females in there somewhere.

Now RadioShack has got some chicks.
Teri Hatcher
Vanessa Williams
Daisy Fuentes

Those people at 10-10-220 might could take some notes. Get some hot chicks.

I do have a question. Why do Emmitt and Co. call anybody collect anyway? They can't afford the phone call? RIGHT!!

The LBA is still recruiting.

And anyone can join.

Just not Yankees fans.

Thank you.

Well I am a wiccan and I will pray to the god of the harvest that he will have mercy on Christians when they stand before him.

YES YES, and let's hope that the Great Pumpkin will have mercy on us all when we reach that great pumkin patch in the sky.

While we are a diverse and sometimes argumentative bunch, I've see what happens when we work together... The result? One of the funniest threads I have ever read: HERE

Well, in this discussion about religion, I've indirectly had my league plugged twice, unless there is another league that praises redheads like mine.

Anyway, just to throw in my two cents and rekindle the fire, I really couldn't care less about the league all that much if, as they said, they DO allow people of any faith in. You know what my beliefs are? I have no idea. I've never understood how someone can believe in a religion so devoutly, but I can still respect it.

The reason I don't follow religion is this. Numerous religions believe it's a sin or whatever to eat pork. Now, what if in the "real" religion (which there is no way of telling which one of the many it is... if ANY of them even are, or, if all of them are and if you follow your own beliefs you'll go to heaven or whatever...)... what if in this "real" religion, anyone who DOESN'T eat pork goes to hell. Sounds silly, but since there is no way of knowing what goes on after death to me it makes just as much sense.

Because I don't know what religion would be correct, why devote my life to something that could be wrong? I can get by on my own morals, and use that as a guide rather than the morals someone who invented the religion is trying to impose on me. Is rape right? no. I would never do that, and religions tell you not to. Premarital sex? My stance is go for it. Religions? nope. There are others, but that's my sticking point... why give up sex for something that may not be right?

Again... just my views on this whole thing. I respect any of you who follow religion closely. I just choose lots of sex over it.

National League-Batter of the Month : May
Shawn Green (CIN) !!
He batted .382 in 110 AB, with 15 homers and 54 RBI.

Frankly, I have no objection from wanting the owners of a league to be a certain faith, color, height, whatever. We live in a free society. That being said, I think the attitude of an All-Christian league - or all-Jewish, or all-Black, or all balding white guy - league is an attempt for the owners to reassure themselves that what they are doing is right. "If we don't let in outside ideas, then we will be safe assuming that our way is the best way." Any group that cuts itself off from other groups restricts its ability to grow, because new blood and new ideas don't become part of the mix.

Now, this is an internet OOTP league and I don't know what the owners do in their personal lives, so maybe they are exposed to all sorts of other ideas and accept other points of view. However, the term "All-Christian" league instantly sets off my "Fanatic" alarm, and there's nothing in life worse than a religous fanatic, IMO.

Amen

Well, maybe he said it, maybe he didn't. I wasn't around 2,000 years ago, so I don't know if he was misquoted or not. Neither were you, I asuume.

Your quote is true if you believe its true, if you believe Jesus was the son of God. Obviously you do, and that's great for you. I don't believe Jesus was the son of God, so the statement has absolutely no validity to me.

I support anyone's right to worship any religon, presuming it isn't something insane like "The only way to enter heaven is to kill three babies a week." Its not my place to tell you your religon is right or wrong or that mine is right or wrong.

And that's the difference between us, Brent. You won't even consider the possibility that your religon might be wrong. Or not for everyone. Or that there are other ways to heaven. Of course, this assumes that you believe in heaven...personally, I think a system that damns sinners to hell with no hope of ever redeeming themselves is seriously flawed, not to mention the fact that hell doesn't work. I mean, lets say the demons are poking me with pitchforks every day. Don't you think that after a few hundred years I wouldn't even care about that any more? The daily pokes would be no more annoying than a commute to work. Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Despite the fact that I don't believe in his divinity, Jesus had some good ideas. A lot of them boiled down to "Treat other people how you would like to be treated." Geez, Brent, would you like it if I took every opportunity to remind you how my religon is right and yours is wrong? Probably not. So, show me the same courtesy, and enjoy your league, just don't burden me with your religous beliefs.
