Lack of talent in amature draft
Seems like a few years into a sim the talent in the draft seems to drop considerably from multiple 5 star guys to none. Is anyone else seeing this or does this get fixed as the years go on?

Probably just bad luck, or your scout doesn't like the current draft pool. The quality is random, and every once in a while you'll get draft pools with not many potential star players.

I believe it sorts itself out about 8-10 years out from the quickstart. I believe I heard once (hopefully correctly) that with the first few draft classes having real prospects in them they are graded slightly higher than a game generate class would be and to even out the talent level in the entire "universe" there may be a little lower quality drafts a few years out. But just like IRL some classes are great and some a terrible, but there usually are a gem or 2 to be found in each class.

Dear 22tbrads22,
I know exactly how you feel. In 2011 we has 11 of the first 80 picks. Not one is playing in the majors today. I know EXACTLY how you feel! Love Stu Sternberg Owner, Tampa Bay Rays. |

Look around at what online leagues do vis a vis talent. I tend to boost things beyond the 1.000 standard precisely so that you get more talent in the later rounds of the draft rather than having to rely solely on talent change randomness.
I think if you tinker with it, you'll find things that make more sense. The other thing is, it's a lot better to avoid using stars as a method for evaluating talent because they can deceive you into think good players aren't as good and it also gets harder to make sense of when you've got better talent into the league. Not to even advocate stats only (tho I do think it has merit) but ignoring ratings and relying on "eye test/performance" is a good way to focus less on what appears to be players who aren't as good, because you have to see what's happening on the field at every level. Especially now that you can even set the minors to start guys based on performance rather than solely on talent.
