A Glimpse at Prislands Islands

Prislands Islands are wedged in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. Created by a chain of dormant volcanoes turned mountain range. Carving out beautiful valleys filled with foliage and towering trees over the inlands. Golden kissed beaches with the deepest of blue hues across the horizons of the Atlantic ocean. The Islands biomes don't vary too much but that has been to the benefit to explorers over the years. Most of the imperialist nations of the early centuries created mutual agreement to turn the island into a massive trade hub for the old and new world. Which turned Prislands in a massive melting pot consisting of West African Slaves, European descents, Transplanted Native Americans. These early years of co-mingling cut out most of the drama that other countries deal with as of colorism/racism etc. Not to say it all over, but most of the residents on the island where seen as equals heading into the early 1800's. Prislands still being the a major Atlantic port was one of the first nations introduced to the new sport of baseball being created in the america's in the late 1800's. As gentleman's clubs spread across the island's cities, The sport was a hit with everyone and seen as heart of the nation as a whole. Going into the mid 1900's the island had mostly unconnected teams playing at a recreational level and not a professional level, until 1970. The Prisland Parliament voted to help subsidize a Professional League for the Island. In hopes of creating new opportunities for citizens of the island.

Thus the Prislands National Baseball League was formed.

Team Introductions will be coming soon.

Panapolis Grizzlies

Team Info
City: Panapolis
Team Colors: Blue/Orange/White/Sky Blue
Nicknames: Boys in Blue, The Seabears, Growl-town
Championship Appearances: 4 (1981/1984/1987/1988)
PNBL Championships: 3 (1984/1987/1988)
Rivals: Fayport Railbirds, Arkwood Phoenix[
Team Owner: DeQuan Taylor-Williams

Team Summary
The Panapolis Grizzlies are one the inaugural teams in the league, and as of recent in the league created a ton of noise for themselves. Starting out as a middling team in the league until around 1978, Where Owner DeQuan Taylor-Williams, soon began help better fund the Grizzlies in hopes of championship run within 4 years. Primarily focused on loading the Bullpen with shutdown revilers, and brick wall of fielders that could keep games low scoring and competitive. So far this approach to the game has worked out well, with three consecutive PNBL championships it seems like it's been

Ballpark Info
Name: Harborside Stadium
Established:1970
Capacity:25200
Surface: Bluegrass
LF: 335ft
CF: 420ft
RF: 344ft
Summary: One of the most scenic ballparks in the league as well as one of the longest standing venues to date. Harborside being the true to its name is built in the same area as Tezcar Harbors marina section. The leftfield side forms right behind the docking zone. The home of the grizzlies is a Power hitters tease, Low walls across from right to center make it seem like free range to go yard, but with the far distance from home it's really more of a mirage.

Decumani Nobles

Team Info
City: Decumani
Team Colors: Navy Blue/Green/White
Nicknames: Little Brothers, Stallions, Decumani Disappointment
Championship Appearances: 2 (1980/1983)
PNBL Championships: 2 (1971/1974)
Rivals: South Decumani Wolfpack
Team Owner: Darold Clinton-Jones Jr

Team Summary
The Nobles are a team that started the PNBL hot and fizzled out immediately. A few early championships and just nothing after, most of this is blamed on Darold Clinton-Jones Jr who inherited the team from his father after his passing int 1975. The team seems to be more geared towards generating profits at minimal cost, then winning games. None the less the city still supports the team quite strongly even though it's sometimes seen as the second fiddle to it's counterpart team south decumani wolfpack.

Ballpark Info
Name: Simotor Memroial Field
Established:1979
Capacity:28500
Surface: Bermuda
LF: 321ft
CF: 417ft
RF: 324ft
Summary: Named after the architect who passed during the creation of the stadium. Simotor Memroial Stadium (SMS for short), blends in well with the surrounding commercial area of Waxfone Square as it sit on the edge of downtown. since it's opening it's been one of the more attractive ballparks, giving off a very tropical/beach vibe akin to maimi 80's decor with less neon. The dimensions of SMS create somewhat of a diamond on a overtop view, making Right-center and Left-Center the deepest regions of the field. Allowing for easy extra base hits as the winds and low altitude have a tendency to give the ball an extra push to get the ball over some of the high fences down the line. It's still not the most preferred place for hitters when a solid pitcher is on the mound.

Arkwood Phoenix

Team Info
City: Arkwood
Team Colors: Orange/Yellow/Black
Nicknames: Firebirds
Championship Appearances: 1 (1989)
PNBL Championships: 1 (1989)
Rivals: Panapolis Grizzlies
Team Owner: Jender Esdarza

Team Summary
Arkwood is one of the newer franchises to enter the PNBL and just fresh off a championship. After what could consider a dismal build up over ten season it's finally created the right results. Owner Jender Esdarza meddling with team operations has finally done some good, hopefully they can recreate the greatness again.

Ballpark Info
Name: Phoenix Field
Established:1980
Capacity:30000
Surface: Bluegrass
LF: 324ft
CF: 402ft
RF: 324ft
Summary: The only 30,000+ Stadium in the PNBL. Phoenix field rest right at the bottom of the Parageo Mountain range. This symmetrically shaped is probably one of the best places for power hitters. Even though the fence pushes away quickly from home plate. A direct shot over either line is a guaranteed home runs. Pull hitters treat this stadium as if it's a homerun derby.

Nicknames: Mountain Boys
Championship Appearances: 3 (1984/1985/1989)
PNBL Championships: 1 (1984)
Rivals: Fayport Railbirds
Team Owner: Frammil Santos

Team Summary
Yammoe is the highest populated city in Prisland rested on the South end of Mount Konnis. The Seahawks haven't been able to swoon the whole city into being fans of the blue and white. The money it's spent into it's payroll hasn't translated into wins most seasons and the fans see that. They do a solid job at filling the seats but they'd probably need more consistent competitive teams to win over Yammoe Citizens.

Team Colors: Midnight Blue/Bronze/White
Nicknames: Westcoast Wolves
Championship Appearances: 0
PNBL Championships: 1 (1970)
Rivals: South Decumani Wolfpack
Team Owner: Hendrick Ah Chee

Team Summary
Cinehallow is the furthest westward city in the league. The ingarual season champions, Cinehallow hasn't been able to capatilize after that amazing first season performance. Dwindling attendance and lack of youth development has cursed this team over the years. Hopefully the Howlers can turn it around.

Summary: Venetian is a popular high fashion clothing brand, that just so happens to be invested by Cinehallow's owner. It's beautiful design and style is unlike any other stadium currently circulating in the league. Venetian is the shortest distance to Center in the league, so it's homerun or bust for the most part.

Rivals: South Yammoe Seahawks/Panapolis Grizzlies
Team Owner: Kaheem Lewis-Moore

Team Summary
The Railbirds are the premier team of the league, Their name alluding to the massive national rail system. Fayport has crushed competition for about over a decade and is only slowly declining, if more unless reloading. Just know the Railbirds pockets are as deep as the Trophy closet they have, and no one really turns down a offer to play for this prestigious team.

Championship Appearances: 0
PNBL Championships: 4 (1972/1973/1975/1976)
Rivals: South Decumani Nobles/Cinehallow Howlers
Team Owner: Bayden Darbouze Jr

Team Summary
Sharing the same island with the nobles is always a challenge, trying to win the league as well as win the hearts of the locals is even harder, but the wolfpack have succeeded. They had an impressive run in the mid 70's that created most of Decumani natives become die-hards for the team. Even though the die-hards are still there the magic of the 70's teams is not. The pack is currently trying to rebuild and create a knew team to compete against a lot of stiff competiton in the league.

Summary: Grandburg stadium is named after the curren't running mayor of the city, Ellis Grandburg. The city help fund building of the ballpark to place smack dab in the Bostrum Park, one of the more affluent neighborhoods within the region. There a cool ferris wheel out in centerfield and below it is a greenery filled with trees, bushes, and ivy. Grandburg is short fences all around and made for pull hitters to go yard. Most pitchers dread of that reason because mistakes here turn into balls out the park.

Team Colors: Brown\Black\White
Nicknames: Woodchucks
Championship Appearances: 2 (1988/1989)
PNBL Championships: 0
Rivals: Arkwood Phoenix
Team Owner: P.F. Pongsai

Team Summary
The Beavers in 10 years have already made the championship series twice. They seem to be on the uprise and could possibly make some moves in the near future. The beavers are loading up with young talent and making the right moves so far. We might watch this team make a possible run just like fayport sometime soon.

Ballpark Info

Established:1980

LF:343ft
CF: 414ft

Summary: Starlight Stadium sits in the middle of downtown rosecoast. Built purely from the owner's pocket, it's luxurious and quirky like Pongsai. Starlight is friendly to left handed hitter with it's short porch to right field. The weather does town a little bit of the travel, with rosecoast being a tad bit humid, but it doesn't stop every half decent hit from going out.

April 15th 1990

It's the 30th season of the Prislands National Baseball League. This means another great year for baseball for all. As we roll into this new season us reporters at PSNN will try to catch you up to speed. On some of the off-season on-goings to build up into this first week of baseball.

PNBL commissioner Reggie Harrison has teased a couple of changes that could possible happen in the near future. One being a potential All-Star game that would show up to premier talents of the PNBL over a weekend as well as including a Homerun Derby. Reggie has claimed this possibly happening by the 91 season if all the owners can come to agreement on the idea. Second being the possibility of expanding the league to add two more teams to the fold. cities are currently being scouted and talks have gone around for possible owners for teams, but that is claimed to be five year or longer process.

Along with this two new Hall of Famers have be inducted over the winter.
1st ballot inductee Giapetto Ramirez(CF), who spent his career entirely with the Fayport Railbirds. 1975 rookie of the year and 5 time Platinum Stick winner, Ramirez was a massive threat being a leadoff hitter. Finishing his career with a .292 batting average and leading the league in runs scored over 4 seasons. Ramirez was the definite sparkplug for the team. Along with Ramirez other notable Fayport legend, Elisner Urena (SP) One of the best hitting pitchers in the league. Urena was multi talented over his 15 season career, winning the platnium stick award 5 times as a pitcher and winning pitcher of the year for his jaw dropping 1987 season (16-3 W-L 1.92 ERA 197 K). His contributions helped secured 5 of fayports championships.

Off-Season Transactions

Notable Free Agent Signings
  • 4 Time Platnium Stick winner Kepa Rodriguez(C) Inked a 5 Year 5.5 Million dollar contract with Arkwood.
  • PNBL Championship Series MVP Signed Godric St-Jean(CF) signed to South Decumani for 6 Years 6.7 Million
  • Last years doubles leader Demarcus Leadnro(SS) signed to Fayport for 5 years 5.5 Million

Notable Trades
  • Panapolis trades away SS Little Billy Rawan/2B Frammil Urena/SP TaShawn Abdul-Mejid to South Decumani for mostly young prospects.

The Wolfpack To A Hot Start
South Decuamni has decided to make a statement to opening week. A seven game winning streak easily sweeping Fayport and rival Decumani with ease, along with a win against Arkwood. The pack have been aggressive on the base paths stealing 8 bags more then anyone else. As well as having the best team batting average at .308. Let's see if they can keep this up into next week.

Opening Week Brawl
Things got testy between the Yammoe Seahawks and Rosecoast Beavers on Thursday as Seahawks Rightfielder Cosme Morin. Charged Starting pitcher P.F. Rawan for throwing chin music. The benches where cleared the the PNBL office decided to deal out suspesions. Morin for 4 games and Moran for 9, Yammoe demolished the Rosecoast that day 23-11, with Seahawk LaMarr Sidibay(RF) tying the PNBL record for runs at game with 5.

Battle at Phoenix Field
Only two weeks into the season and the air seems to be thick with tension. Fayport's star shortstop Damarcus Delandro managed to get into fight with Arkwood's Pitcher LaVan Urena. This being spurred as the Railbirds first basemen LaBron Dugger was injured by a hit-by-pitch from Urena. So clearly Delandro wasn't having any of it but in the end the PNBL hammer came down. Damarcus suspended for 4 games and LaVan suspended for 6.

He's Bin Hot So Haffar
Abdul Wahid Bin Haffar is in his fifth year and looks like he's trying to outdue his past three MVP seasons. Currently hitting at a .442 batting and leading the league and almost every major hitting category. Saying he's come ready to play ball would be a understatement. He's been putting on hitting clinic and we hope it continues.

Hyong goes for five
The Yammoe Seahawks decorated Shortstop Yun-Soo Hyong adds another feat to add to his Hall of Fame ballot. Hyong went 5 for 6 against the Decumani nobles in a 15-6 win. Hyong is been on a hot streak the past three weeks with .312 batting average while knocking in 24 RBIs. This two time MVP keeps amazing the PNBL the older he gets it never seems there is off button to his production.

Bring the Talent
The PNBL office is happy to announce that a All-Star game is coming to the league next coming season. Each team will consist of 20 players from all 8 rosters, as well creating a slight break for players in the season. It gives the fans what they've been clamoring for, All the leagues top talent under one roof. Voting for the Inaguaral All-Star games host city will be decided by the end of June.

What Happened Grizzlies?
It seems Panapolis has decided to clean house this season after going on a amazing back to back championship run. Finishing 7th last year at 54-66 didn't seem to invoke any confidence for another ring soon so they've dismantled to the team.

PSNN got to talk to longstanding General Manager Micheal Blakey, "It took years in the making but it's honestly over." said the 63 year-old.
"We've realize we caught lighting in a bottle i 87 and 88, but we need to develop talent so we can be even better then those teams." He replied.

Blakey continued to insist on the optimism of the current roster. They've been progressively cutting fat with trades over the off-season to acquire young prospects and so far seems to be working. PSNN has rated them with the best Amateur team. Springwood is deep with players like Jamaican born Okeem Bonval. The number one rated pitching prospect whose been improving a lot on his off-speed while playing in Springwood and hopes to be a call-up within the next two seasons.

Players of the Month
Players of the month have been annouched, with not much suprises the hitter of the month being Abdul Wahid Bin Haffar of Rosecoast. He made pitchers look like batting practice as he recorded a .446 batting average, knocking in 10 homeruns and 22 RBIs on the month. PSNN asked him how he felt about starting out this hot on the season he said, "Player of the month is cool and all, but I'm trying to win the championship". Haffar told us he was dead set on achieving his goal this season and wants to bring the beavers to their first PNBL title.

Pitcher of the Month goes to the Yammoe Seahawks closer Mychal Aboushi. The whole month of may Mychal didn't allow a single run on 14 innings of pitching. Holding opposing batters to a jaw dropping .094 batting average. Mychal was the definition of shutdown all month, PSNN asked how he felt about the accomplishment he replied "Great, I feel amazing my talents are being recognized, I just want to keep this up and contribute to the Seahawks."

Players of the Week

Batter: 3B Steinar Lokas (Fayport)
9 for 20 (.450) 4 Homeruns, 9 RBIs.

Keep Cool Cornwell
Thridbasemen of the Decumani Nobles, Kyle Cornwell just couldn't keep his emotions against the umpire. The 34 year old was ejected in the third inning in the rivaly game of Nobles and the Wolfpack. His meltdown cause the PNBL hammer of suspensions to lay down on him for 3 games. Kyle didn't respond when asked about his out-burst.

Show Him The Money
The Beavers agreed yesterday to extend there Leftfielder Leung Tejarukmana's contract for another two more years. The 29 year old will be able to extend his so far lifelong commitment to the team while earning a whopping 2.6 million dollars in the process. Leung said "I'm happy to play for the beavers, It feels like a second home for me. I'm just glad I can continue to be in a beavers uniform for two more years." Leung was last year a platnium stick award winner hitting a .301 batting average and .480 On-base percentage as well as being the most walked batter last year with 89 walks.

Draft Pool Annouced
With only a few days left before the PYBA and PCBA commence their playoffs. All possibly eligible players have announced, their draft eligibility.
some of the notable players available are 21 Year-old second basemen Geurto Garcia, Garcia has been hitting .311 while at Morely University. Which isn't the best of all college players but what makes him special is defensive prowess. He's a solid middle infielder that can has professional range.

There is also High Schooler Sandro Cardenas, The Mexican born leftie has been a nightmare for batters. His fastball is nothing special but the real reason he's a top prospect is for his big sweeping breaking balls. He throws a Slider and sinker that both moth atleast 10 inches or more and it's hard to place solid contact when a ball moves that much. He controls all it so well he could be prime to be in a starting rotation within the next few years.

The Road Ends Here
It's sad that PSNN has to report that 26 year-old relief pitcher for the Yammoe Seahawks, Edixson Santos has retired today. He suffered a torn labrum ending his career as a PNBL pitcher. "all things must come a end I guess, Even if it's not on your terms." Said the distraught reliever. Santos started out his career with the Arkwood Phoenix then being signed by Seahawks in 1989. Santos put 4.63 ERA on 167.1 Innings Pitched and 1.34 WHIP.

Trayvon Goes 5 for 5
Trayvon Clinton-Jones, Firstbasemen for the Fayport Railbirds had himself a game while playing against the Decumani Nobles. Clitnon-Jones was 5 for 5 at the plate with 2 RBIs and double and Triple. Missing a Homerun to make him shy of a cycle. Travyon currently is hitting a .368 batting average and .419 On-base percentage

The X Factor
Decumani's Leftfielder put on a show against the Yammoe Seahawks, Monte X went five for six in a 10-4 win over the Seahawks, being responsible for 5 runs batted in. As well as four of the five hits being extra base hits, X was truly on fire and couldn't be contained that day.

Big Business
PNBL Commissioner Reggie Harrison officially announced the location of the first PNBL All-Star game. It will be held in Phoenix Field home to the Arkwood Phoenix. "We in the PNBL front office though that it be good idea to get as many fans a chance to view the first All-Star game." Said the commissioner. He seemed to be vary excited about the news and seemed to evade questions about possible expansion to ten teams. "We are still working out the logistics, and want to put a new franchise or two in the right city at the right time." Harrison responded. Hopefully more light will be shed on this down the end of the seaosn.

Freak Accident
Relief pitcher for the Arkwood Phoenix Janoris G. injured himself this week, just not the way you expect. Supposedly while washing his car he managed to break his wrist in the process. Highly decorated veteran of the Yammoe Seahawks has reached a new milestone this week.34 Year-old Yun-Sun Hyong has made it into the 1500 Hit club, being the fifth player in the PNBL's existence to do so.
