Walkers news: July 22 -- St. Louis 10, Chicago 6

In a game it once led 5-0, St. Louis scored five runs in the top of the ninth inning to overcome a 6-5 deficit and complete a three-game sweep of the G-Men in Chicago.
Adeiny Heccavarria got it started with a one-out triple off G-Men closer Michael Feliz and scored when Jed Gyorko followed with an RBI single.
An Andrew Benintendi two-run homer, with one out, off Feliz put the Walkers in front 8-6. Michael Confronto later added another two-run homer
Feliz was guilty of allowing all five runs, as he blew his fifth save of the season.

St. Louis needed to work overtime to secure its sixth consecutive win with a 3-2 victory in 10 innings in Madison over the Muskies.
Down 2-1, the River Walkers tied the game in the seventh inning when a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Albert Almora scored Alex Bregman.
St. Louis notched the winning run in the top of the 10th.

Lorenzo Cain led off with a single off reliever Corey Knebel, but was eliminated when Andrew Benintendi hit into a fielder's choice.
A Rhys Hoskins single moved Benintendi to second. He would score on a two-out single by Bregman off Juan Minaya.

Walkers news: August 6 -- Des Moines 3, St. Louis 2

The St. Louis River Walkers saw an eight-game winning streak snapped with a 3-2 to the Des Moines Harvesters in the opener of a four-game series at Busch Stadium.
Tied 2-2, the Harvesters got the winning run in the top of the seventh inning when pinch-hitter Mauricio Dubon led off with a double off reliever Jake Diekman.

Dubon moved to third on ground ball from pinch-hitter Austin Hayes. A sacrifice fly then scored Dubon with what proved to be the game-winning run.

Despite the loss, the River Walker, at 79-34, easily own the best record in the league and a 12.5-game advantage over the Springfield Prairie Fighters in the NL South Division. Springfield's record of 66-46 is second best in the Midwest Baseball League.

Walkers news: August 11 -- Twin Cities 4, St. Louis 0

With the River Walkers winning game at an historic clip, when they lose is almost bigger news.
In this one, Twin Cities Snow Cats left-hander Chris Sale combined with three relievers on a three-hit shutout.
Sale allowed just one hit in his 6.1 innings, a one-out single from Andrew Benintendi which would end his game, while striking out 10 and walking none.
Three relievers would combine the next eight batters -- including a double play which followed Benintendi's single -- to close the game out.

J.P. Crawford gave Twin Cities a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning with an RBI single off Alex Cobb.

Crawford later hit a solo homer off Cobb to lead off the seventh, making it 2-0. Bradley Zimmer later had a two-run shot off Jake McGee in the same inning to conclude the scoring.

Walkers news: August 17 -- St. Louis 3, Springfield 0

St. Louis right-hander Alex Cobb went the distance while tossing a three-hitter in the River Walkers 3-0 win over the Springfield Prairie Fighters at Busch Stadium.
All three of the hits were singles -- two from Enrique Hernandez -- and Cobb (9-2, 2.83 ERA) struck out 10 batters and walked none.
St. Louis got the only run it needed in the bottom of the first, when Lorenzo Cain led off with a single off Springfield starting pitcher Matt Andriese and scored on a two-out single from Manny Pina.

Walkers news: August 18 -- St. Louis 5, Springfield 4, 12 innings

St. Louis' Lorenzo Cain connected for a two-out, two-run single off Springfield's Tommy Hunter in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift the River Walkers to a 5-4 win at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis took a 2-1 lead into the top of the ninth only to have a pinch-hit homer from Tony Kemp off Keone Kela tie it.
A Mookie Betts single in the top of the 11th inning off Jake Diekman scored Gorkys Hernandez, putting the Prairie Fighters ahead 3-2.
But Manny Pina led off the bottom of the inning with a single off Hunter.
A Jedd Gyorko double moved him to third and he would score on an Alex Bregman sacrifice fly to send to the 12th inning.
Kemp came through with another big hit, this time a single off Diekman which scored Leury Garcia, to make it 4-3.
But in the bottom of the 12th, Brock Holt singled with one out off Hunter and Andrew Toles followed with a walk.
A Manny Pina single loaded the bases before Gyorko hit into a force out that retired Holt at the plate.
But Cain followed with a sharp single to left, scoring Toles and Pina to win the game.

Walkers news: August 19 -- St. Louis 2, Springfield 1

A pitchers' duel between Jacob de Grom (St. Louis) and Justin Verlander (Springfield) was decided by the bullpens as the River Walkers scored twice in the bottom of the eighth inning to steal a 2-1 win at Busch Stadium.
Springfield got its lone run in the top of the first inning against de Grom, when Whit Merrifield led off with a single, took third on a Mookie Betts and scored on another single, this one from Freddie Freeman.
That run held up until the bottom of the eighth when the River Walkers got something going against the Prairie Walkers bullpen.
Andrew Benintendi led off with a double off Springfield reliever Juan Nicasio. He then scored on a two-out single from Alex Bregman.

A walk to Brock Holt moved Bregman to second, setting the stage for Tucker Barnhart to drive him in with a single off a dead-tired Nicasio.
