Thank you. I really hated the sound files because I was constantly having to turn the volume down. Nice job!

no problem. just a quick update though. it looks like the new patch (9.1.0) has addressed the volume issues. so if you wanted to only use the updated music files, you only need to replace the three intro files (intro1.wav, intro1.wav, and intro3.wav). I will release a newer version later this week after I test the patched game.

I agree with your impressions Ambermonk. Although I haven't played any games yet, I did compare the sound levels of the old files with the updated ones in my music editor, and the volume levels have been normalized (at least within the sound file). So the drastic volume increases should be toned down a lot.
The heavy metal music files are still there (at least in the sound folder), but since you didn't hear them in the game, it's possible Markus turned them off "in game". I'm about to play a couple games now. If anyone wants this mod, I uploaded version 1.1. The only changes made are to the three music files (heavy metal replaced with more traditional music). Follow the link from my original post. Last edited by edm; 07-13-2008 at 02:50 AM. |

Just tried your sound mod and have the following comments.
1. The clip volumes are too loud. I would decrease the volumes by 30-50% and start testing them from there. 2. The clip durations are too long. 10 seconds is way to long for the game. I would suggest trimming them to around 3 seconds. 3. The sounds have a "tin can" type of sound/echo to them. Overall these are a nice start and should make fine replacements for the heavy metal clips that come with the game. -Cork55 |

I finally heard them in game and they are too loud as Cork55 stated. So I updated them again. lowered the volume levels and shortened some of the music. The updated links are in the first post. Sorry for so many updates, but these are a work in progress

Great job with the sound file,I've just used it over my last 5 games and I'm impressed. The one minor quibble I have is that the main crowd noise file may be a tad low in the volume department.Other than that,I love it.

Awesome mod! When I heard the "charge" trumpet, I was very excited. Thanks!

Appreciate the comments. I updated the link with a new version (increased the background crowd volume a bit).

It is way better than the original, and brings a lot of "feel" to the game. Thanks a lot for your work.

Is this file usable with OOTP X? I hate the horrible sound levels in the game. To get any ambient sound you need to crank your volume, and then when the crowd gets excited it breaks your eardrums, not to mention that if you forget to turn your volume back down that you are going to blow your speakers when you switch to some other app!

Does anyone know specifically which sound files are the ones that increase in volume so crazily? I'd like to replace those with something else.

The sound mod works well, it repalces the metal rock, the sound volume is good. It actually replaces 12 sound files I think.
