Yeah, but now… keep or sell? I mean, I really need pitching. I really need everything. But if you really need everything, you can really need 200k+ PP...

Congratulations! Which team got him? The Raccoons? Just curious, but why haven't you sold Johnson for your Raccoons team? Are you still doing packs only for them? Otherwise, you could assemble a pretty nice roster with the sale of Johnson. If Grove is for a packs only team, I'd keep him, otherwise, sell him. Especially for the Raccoons. Johnson and Grove could be pretty nice.

The Critters pulled him, yeah. Big Walt is the only starting pitcher that doesn't get smoked in Perfect. In a good year, deGrom pulls in a 4-ish ERA. Having Lefty Grove would sure be an improvement.
Then again, I have lots of cards already and with some capital (I don't want to open the wallet yet again…) I could probably complete a bunch of missions for juicy diamonds with stronger stats. The SP situation on the Raccoons is so dire… well, the (97) Tom Seaver is doing *reasonably* well. deGrom this year has an ERA over six. The other two slots are rotating right now. Trying Jerry Reuss right now… And I said when I got the Big Walt card in spring that this is the card you open packs for, so why sell him - you're never going to get him back. But glossing it over, with 200k PP I could *maybe* get a set of starters that doesn't get humped every other game... I don't know! Put Grove on the auction house right now, but for an insane price. Which is a weird sort of compromise, and also illustrating that I am absolutely not knowing what I'm doing. Edit: Jerry Reuss spins 8.1 scoreless against the Mighty Wombats. What the **** do I know about baseball?

The Raccoons are still 1 game behind Westvleteren. But their offense really is cranking it up. Their last 2 games they won 28-5 and 10-1. Soon they'll probably pass us in R and they're way ahead in RA. But last I checked W-L mattered the most. And as we all know, the best team doesn't always win, even in a long season. So as crazy it seems, I'm still holding out hope we'll make them play in the WC round.
I added 90 Ichiro to beef up my OF defense plus I like good contact hitters (I also have Keeler with his 113 contact). I've also been training Maddox to play all OF positions and he's nearly maxed out now. For this season, I'll only be playing Ichiro in RF since I'm already training Appling and Ruth, though they are within 10 of being maxed out. Now, when I want good OF D, I can have Mays in LF (110), Maddox in CF (103) and Ichiro in RF (117). Not bad! My reason for training Appling at 2B is so that I can add Brett at 3B and make Rizzuto a full time sub (he's sometimes been my starting 2B vs RHP and LHP, but mostly he's vs LHP and a sub). Anyone know how 99 Brett compares to 100 Brett offensively (in practice; I know their ratings)? His 3B D is a fair bit better so I was considering getting him. Anyone got a different recommendation for 3B?

Given where you are with all the packs you have opened, this makes a lot of sense to me. Look at the collections thread where pappyzan posted about all of the missions that he completed. If you play your CARDS right (get it?), you might be able to complete a bunch of missions and still get your 200K at the end.

That's kind of the point. Delays the decision to tomorrow.

As an alternative for 3B, if you don't mind the lack of speed and a RHB, you might look at 100 Ripken. |

I have him in my Doha Oilers in a neutral park. In 3061 games played in perfect leagues, his slash line is .297/.348/.476, with an average 122 ops+.

He has been platooning only for the last 5 season. Funnily enough his 3 best seasons ( with ops of 1.020, .935 and .873) happened when he played everyday. This year, for example, he has a 1.039 OPS against lefties.

ASB Updates:
Austin Express P429 76-18 1st Place First half of the year has been outstanding, bats and arms have been on fire, and we are cooking. Top record in the NC by 17 games, and running 2 games ahead of Hong Kong Tiger for top record overall. Team has a +329 RD at the break, and this is the best half season start we've ever had. We picked up a King Kelly card and he's made such an impact I've gotta get him for my PL team. Best record in the league right now. Only issue has been shuffling the 5th starter, with Fergie Jenkins struggling as well as Rick Reuschel. Greg Maddux is currently trying to hold it down, and has made 4 solid starts. Ernie Banks with his defense on the new card has helped make a huge difference. The biggest impact has been changing park factors to benefit the amount of right handed hitters on the team, which has led to a +269 RD in the first half. Should go nicely with your 100 Walter.
Allow me to be the contrarian and suggest you keep him. This is the type of card that we open packs for in the first place!

Another strong supporter of 99 Brett. He's played 11 seasons for me at perfect with 2 MVPs and a 162 game avg slash of .304/.352/.486, OPS+ of 128 and avg WAR of 4.0. 22 HR/118 RBI/great BB/k ratio/40+ 2B/6 3B.

Working SE Ernie Banks like crazy at second to get him as a defensive option there. I have enough of a lead to allow that. He's up to 53 at 2B now but it was rough with him starting at zero.
