OOTP vs. Strat-o-matic
I'm a long-time strato player who stumbled on to OOTP a few months back and I really love it. As a matter of fact I haven't played a game of strato since I downloaded OOTP.
The OOTP universe and its near limitless potential is intoxicating. My only issue to this point is with the actual playing of the games. Coming from strato where managers get to make much more choices regarding base running, throwing to different bases etc., OOTP took a little getting used to. But what I find troubling is the AI managing. Too many times I notice the opposing team letting their pitcher hit while trailing late in a game when it's an obvious pinch-hitting situation. It's strange occurrences like this that leave me a bit troubled, because, unlike many of the players who prefer just to sim, I still enjoy playing out each game and want to have faith in the game's A! engine. Simmers may not notice this abnormalities. I hope OOTP continues to thrive and keeps getting better. Last edited by pvtitan21; 03-24-2016 at 07:34 PM. |

OOTP has a lot more. Strat o matic is ok but more costly.

You can change the game settings for frequency of pitchers and position players being pinch-hit for, might be worth tweaking those and then running some tests.
