It's rare, but they will. I got Joe Mauer once despite 10/5 status

Depends on the player. I tried to get Braun(don't ask me why I had him) to take a trade away from me, I was in third place with the Astros, and he used his no trade clause(not the 10/5 but same idea) even when trying to send him to a first place team that was going to use him in LF as a starter.

Had one guy use his 10/5 to keep me from trading him to a first place team also. I was in second place, but was out of wild card.

Found that keep trading him each day till he allows trade to go through helps. But if he were to allow it you better make it that day then its back to the drawing board. You might even discover a common denominator. However it doesn't always work even then.

They will usually allow the trade if they're unhappy. Same with no-trade clauses in contracts.

So bench them, then trade

My first year with the Mets I shopped David Wright around and the Tigers were the only team that replied with an offer. Since he's got a 10/5 deal I found I couldn't straight up trade him as he kept blocking me so I finally tried shopping him around and he was open to going to the Tigers.

I pretty much trade away a player as soon as I get the 10/5 is coming warning.

I don't like to be handcuffed.
