6/1/1985 -
The Expos went 15-12 for the month to pull over .500 on the season. We now sit in second place, four games behind the Phillies.
Don Mattingly continued to swing a hot bat, this time winning Batter of the Month after hitting .400 with 1 home run, 19 RBI, and 17 runs scored. |

The Expos climbed to just 1 1/2 games behind the Phillies, and are now tied with the Phillies in the win column.
With his 6th win of the season Jon Matlock now has 270 wins for his career. |

With an 18-9 month the Expos have taken the lead in the NL East with a 4 1/2 game lead over the Phillies.
We lost Cecilio Guante for the remainder of the year which will definitely hurt our bullpen, but I think we've got enough bullpen depth. Don Mattingly and George Bell were the lone All Star representatives for Montreal. |

The Expos magic number is now 5, but we hold a narrow 2 game lead over the Phillies and a 3 game lead over Chicago.
We'll play our next 3 games at home against the Phillies, then hit the road for three in New York against the Mets. The Cubs have 3 at home against the Pirates, then travel to St. Louis for 3 games. The Phillies will come home for 3 games against the Pirates after our series. |

Thanks! The Expos have tormented me like no other team before, so I never know what to expect with this team. The series didn't start out well, as you will see in a second.

It's all tied up after the Phillies knocked off the Expos 4-3. Even worse the Cubs defeated the Pirates 9-2, and the Cardinals beat the Mets 7-1.
We need to win today with Mike Moore on the mound. |

Mike Moore pitched seven scoreless innings tonight, and four members of the bullpen came on to preserve the shutout as we won 3-0 and take a 1 game lead over the Phillies, and 2 game lead over the Cubs.

A four run second inning put the Expos up early as we rolled to an 8-1 win over the Mets.
The Phillies had a remarkable ninth inning comeback, scoring 5 run to send the game into extra innings, but the Pirates scored a pair of runs in the tenth to win 10-8. The Expos are now assured of no worse than a tie in the NL East. |

It took 8 years for the Expos to make the playoffs under my tenure, but a 9-4 win over the Expos has us clinching the NL East and going to the playoffs!

10/8/1985 - NLCS Game 1
In the top of the first inning George Bell doubled home the first run of the game, with Dan Pasqua singling home the second. Those would be the only runs we would score, but Tom Browning pitched 8 shutout innings for the win, with Steve Bedrosian pitching a scoreless ninth for the save as the Expos go up 1-0 in the series. |

With Jon Matlock on the mound there was 1 million reasons why I was expecting a big game. Unfortunately Matlock didn't have his best stuff, giving up 4 runs in 6 innings. Silvio Martinez and 4 relievers held the Expos to 2 runs as the Reds won 5-2 to even the series. |

I don't think he did too bad based on what I remember about him. I think it's my offense I'm more worried about.
Edit - Wait, I think you jinxed him! Last edited by NYY #23; 01-21-2014 at 08:14 PM. |

10/11/1985 - NLCS Game 3
We got to the playoffs by allowing the fewest runs in the league, but we're now down in the NLCS 2 games to 1 because we're giving up lots of runs. Neal Heaton allowed 5 runs in 5 1/3 innings tonight in the 6-1 loss as we fall behind 2 games to 1. |

10/12/1985 - NLCS Game 4
Tom Browning got the start today for the Expos, and allowed 5 runs over 8 innings. It wasn't a bad start, but it wasn't good enough for us to win since our bats have completely shut down. Steve Bedrosian came in to pitch the ninth, and if there was any question about whether we could come back or not he answered that, allowing 6 runs in a 1/3 of an inning. He left with an ERA of 40.51 and the Expos are now down 3 games to 1 needing to win 3 straight. Not impossible, but not likely either. |

10/13/1985 - NLCS Game 5
Jon Matlock got the start tonight, trying to redeem himself from his dreadful Game 2 start. 8 innings, 3 hits, and 1 run was all he would give up as he picked up the win. Steve Bedrosian came on to pitch the ninth, and this time didn't give up a hit to pick up the save and lowered his ERA to 23.15. Don Mattingly was 3-5 tonight with 2 RBI and 1 run scored as the Expos win 3-1 and now trail 3-2 in the series as we travel to Cincinnati after an off day. |
