Incorrect Draft Dates

In was just checking my Depth chart and noticed something unusual about my draft picks—they appear to be a year out?

I'm in the offseason in 2018, so the next draft would be 2019. However, my picks are dated 2020 through to 2022...

You do have the 2019 picks available for functional purposes (e.g. in the trading window), right? Likely just a display thing with the Info screen.

No—the pick list when trading is exactly the same as the one shown here.

I think we'll need to see the save, then, I've looked through a few test saves in 2018 and it doesn't seem to be happening in any of them.

I've uploaded the save to incoming/fhm/saved_games/Penguins2016.lg.zip.

I think something's gone wrong in the zipping or the upload, it's crashing when I try to load it. Same thing with the rolling saves. Can you try that again?

Are you opening with FHM4 or FHM3? This is a FHM3 save.

Ah, that'd be why. I think the problem that could cause this was fixed in FHM4 early on, but I'm not sure if it can be corrected once it's occurred in an FHM3 game.

As long as it’s something you’re aware of and which has been fixed in FHM4, then it’s all good. 👍🏼

Just out of curiosity, what’ll happen when I reach the draft? Will it continue as normal just using the wrong picks, or will the game crash cause there aren't any teams with 2019 picks?

From what I remember when it happened to others, it'll skip the 2019 draft (or rather, it'll occur but no picks will be made), then return to normal the following year.

Oh, and on a side-note, I sent you an email earlier in the week–don't know if you've had a chance to take a look at it?

They'll likely be free agents up until the season starts before going back into the draft pool.

Got the email, had a few similar offers recently, will likely respond on the weekend once I have time to read through them all.

Edit: if you want to avoid the better prospects signing as free agents and the game's in commisioner mode, you can set their NHL rights to "none" and they won't be touched until the next draft.

Turns out the draft went ahead as normal and everyone got their picks despite nobody actually having any picks for this year.

I wonder if it's just a display issue, as the new picks have now been allocated and I appear to have two lots for 2022...

Ah, I wonder if the fix in the newer update is correcting the old problem, but maybe leaving some display issues. I'll see if I can dig out an old save and check if that's the case.
