auto-sync lineups & depth charts

Is there somewhere where this option is defined? Specifically, I'd like to know - in both the instances of human-controlled an AI-controlled teams - what the effects are when this option is enabled, and when it's not.

For example, when enabled, what exactly gets sync'd? And when disabled, what exactly doesn't sync?

Thanks in advance.

Below is the picture when it is on:

And here is a picture with it off.

As you can see, the only difference is that you can change the position in the lineup and it will reflect in the depth chart. It is important to note that it doesnt work vice versa, at least not correctly. As in, if you change their position on the depth chart, it doesnt always reflect immediately in the lineup.

However, if you change their position via the lineup, it reflects in the depth chart.

Hopefully that made sense.

My impression is that playing with auto-sync OFF is better. For example, on the right side ... the POS, Depth Starter ... would be your "standard" starters for each position. I assume if some temporary changes are made for the upcoming game that changes to the lineup would not mess up the normal Starter lineup on the right.

However my 3rd baseman was "tired" and also I wanted to play my other catcher for the upcoming game. I made the two changes on the left side, (the "Lineup vs RHP side for that game"), but when the game started, I noticed that neither change took effect. Either something is messed up with the AI (I have it set to "AI can't make changes to lineups" and I as owner/GM am the only one who can make out lineups). I'm a bit confused what's going on but will have to look into this further.

Now, if somebody wants to make every change they make to their lineup permanent, then they would play with "Auto-Sync checked". I will look at BrandonS's post above further to see if I have this correct.
