Pitcher season fatigue?
Sometimes I'll roll with a 6 man rotation to decrease the amount of innings my start pitchers throw over the course of the year. I'm hoping this keeps them fresher for the playoffs than the competition may be. I would think someone who only threw 180IP would have a better chance at high performance in the playoffs than someone who threw 250IP.
Does anyone know if this type of fatigue is factored in? Just want to make sure this type of strategy is worth pursuing, or if I just need to use my ace(s) as much as possible. Thanks! |

My initial reaction is no, it is not factored in. I've seen a lot of pitchers have a great second half of the season after a so so first half. It should be fairly easy to check. At the end of the season, check the starting pitcher in the league to see if a significant number (66%?) had a worse WHIP stats after the all star break. If so, maybe it is due to season fatigue. Of course maybe the batters have season long fatigue so they will do worse also which might balance out the stats. I think only Markus knows for sure and he probably wants to keep it a secret to keep us guessing.
